Hi all,
 
I've done some preparations for my latest Card Kit, the famous (infamous? ) German WW2 Battleship "Bismarck". The "Kit" is published by GPM in Poland.
 
My first impressions are that the printing is not quite up to the standard of my IJN Amatsukaze (Halinski), but still quite good. Halinski's models have a more pronounced "weathering" and texturing, widely regarded as one of the best available. The Instructions are once again in Polish, so Google Translate will be getting another workout .
 
As with the Halinski kit there is nothing to indicate on which of the 25 Parts Sheets any of the parts are, so again I've spent a full day filling out a Data-sorted Spreadsheet to enable a quick find of them. This idea worked brilliantly on Amatsukaze, and is well worth the effort :


 
I bought this kit from Pav (maaaslo) - he'd bought it a while ago from GPM but didn't think he'd ever start it. Along with the kit came the Laser Cut frames, a real timesaver . Unfortunately, there was a page missing. No big deal, as one side of the page was merely an Advert for other kits, but all the Instructions were on the reverse side. Luckily, Slog sent me a translation of the missing page, so all's well .
 
I also have all (or at least most of) the extra Laser Cut Detail sets, a big stack of PE for the other details, and the full compliment of turned Gun Barrels.

Small update.
 
I have create the masts but not painted yet !
I will start painting this afternoon and somewhere next week you will see the painted result.
A few more things to do before the masts are totally finished.
But first.....painting time

All the chains, chainplates and deadeyes are on at both sides.
Because I have to paint a few things that was damaged on the way, I thought I will do something different.......
I have started the journey with the rudder.........
I put the pindels on and hanging the rudder on to the hull.
I think ( in my opinion ) it's not to bad !
One can go a little higher ( if I can remove it ) 
Otherwise I will keep it this way.
Now I have to make the brackets ?
Those things what goes on the rudder and on the hull.
Another funny job ! (nope )

Guess what......
 
Someone put signs for me to find the way to the hobby room........
And I find it !!!!!!!!!
Love the smell of a new hobby room with stuff and a model somewhere         
I did something......yippie !!!!!!!!
 
I finished the gunport lids on the starboard side and make also the chainplates.
The chainplate that comes close to the bow have also the deadeyes.
Strange system to attach those deadeyes.......
I think that it is better to place the deadeyes first before I attach the chainplate to the hull ?
Maybe someone can shine a light for me on that ????????
That should be then for the port side and the other builds in the future..........

On this lovely day with a little sun and temp. around 12 C and before I take a walk to see something outside instead of only the hobby room an little update .
I finished the chains and dead eyes on the starboard side.
And what's left ? 
Yep, de port side     
That's for next week......

I know.....no update or anything else.
Still busy with work and decorating the house a little.
But I have two weeks vacation now and hopefully I can go back into the workshop.
I have to remove all the dust !!!!!!
And see where everything is .
In the meanwhile I will take a look around MSW to see what I have missed the last couple of months........

We are almost back to normal !!!!!!
Work, work and work.....
But we are happy.
And a small update.
The large gunport lids on the starboard and port side are done.
All what is left are 14 small gunport lids ( and of course the rest what I have to do  )
And back to work again !!!!!!

Hello there......
I'm back     
 
After a long period of doing a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with modelbuilding I will try to go further where I left a few moths ago.
Moved to another city but in the same country I have my own workshop again .
I found out one thing......don't move the model !!!!!!!!
I did that and a few repairs where in order.
As you can see I have not done all the repairs on the ropes at the gun port lids.
All the ropes are not straight anymore !
I have to change that.
But I want to show you that I'm still do something.
And I have only done the starboard side, so a small repair ( I hope ).

After 2 weeks vacation I have to go to work again.....  
The little free time that I had I have done something......
Deck furniture on the lower gun deck is placed like:
Gratings, Stove, Ladders and beatings.
And when i was waiting for some glue to dry, I have painted the windows for the transom and the quarter gallery's.
And because the glue was not dry yet, I have place them in the frames.
And because it's early dark, not the best pictures.
I wanted to do it now otherwise you have to wait till wednesday or thursday......

Lower portside ratlines finished. My knot tying skills improved with time, but the shrouds kept getting closer and closer together the higher I went. There's still many many ratlines left to tie!!

While I'm getting up the courage to drill into my hard-earned hull....I installed the rudder chain. Constructo misses the boat and only shows the chain as a safety chain. My research tells me it's that as well as emergency steering in case the topside steering is disabled. The chains run through the hull into the gun deck.

Pin rails are done!  They shouldn't break loose unless I hit them with a hammer. The jig made alignment easy. Now I'll clean them up and varnish them.

The support beams on the port side are on it.
I painted the back wall white and lay planks on the floor.
Now I can go to the starboard side and then......good question.
I want to have your opinion on this.
What do I do first....
The windows and painting the quarter gallery's first and then the second planking or the other way around ?
Don't forget that where the quarter gallery's are coming, the surrounded area will be also be painted black.
