Mihail did send a set of instructions with pictures to sharpen. Baically it was with sand paper glued to a board, with the chisel held in your hand.

My watchmakers' screw slotting files go down to a little under 0.010" wide. Unlike fret files, they cut a square bottom slot. Jewellers' saw blades are a good and cheaper alternative!
I have always wondered how the small shapes were made. Do you have a good source of this watchmaker's screw slotting files>
Thanks.

HI,
I currently have TurboCAD_LTE v 2015 and am thinking of getting either Draftsight (pay version) or TurboCAD (non-LTE). ON e thing I am looking for is the ability to import PDFs into the CAD program to help getting started in drawing plans for the Virginia 1776.
Although I had drafting class 40+ years ago, I know next to nothing about CAD.
Any suggestions , comments, or pros and cons of these CAD programs?
Thanks for the information nad feedback

All,
I am looking for some good recommendations for a good textbook on the basics of drafting/technical drawing.
My plan is to create a set of plans for the Virginia from the NMM plan set. I will be using CAD, but haven't settled on drafting from the ground up or importing a scanned copy.
Thanks.

I have both volumes. Volume I is primarily the hull and the second volume is interior and exterior. I am extremely please with both volumes. I will echo druxey in that this should have much more detail than the AOTS series.
If you are thinking of scratch building the Naiad, these books will be invaluable.

I ordered a set that was mailed on 4/4/17 and arrived Thursday 4/20/17. Payment was easy with PayPal.
They are beautiful. The handles are unfinished birch and light weight. It was $320 which included shipment (which was about $30). Mihail also sent a set of instructions on sharping and a set of photos.
I haven't had a chance to test them out but am looking forward to the opportunity. I am extremely please with Mihail's product. My plans are to get another set with palm handles. :-)
Thanks Druxey for letting us know of this.

Inforation on Falconer's Universal Dictionary of the Marine, 1815 (Hardcover)
in Book, Monograph and Magazine reviews and Downloads. Questions and Discussions for Books and Pubs
Posted
I am looking to get Falconer's Universal Dictionary of the Marine, 1815 (Hardcover). In looking on the web, I have noticed at least two publishers. One is Chattam (spelling?) and the othe is the Naval Institute Press. I think both had a publication date of 2006.
Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the two, or if one is better than the other?
Thanks,
Nathan
