Ryland, Thanks for the tip on the #11 saw blade. I just ordered a couple along with a few other small items. Looks like a super useful tool.

Bob, It was around 19 on the way to work this morning. No moisture though. It's bone dry.

Your boat looks fantastic. I will be watching this one.

Thanks Bob. I appreciate the information.

Bob,
Your Constitution looks great. I can't wait to see more progress.
I am new to wood ship modeling and have a question. What do you use to glue parts to a painted surface? Is there any special prep or certain glue to use?
Thanks, Al D.

Fantastic attention to detail and workmanship. Thanks for taking the time to post a build log.

Your whaleboat looks fantastic. The colors are perfect and in you last set of pictures it looks like it is sitting dockside waiting to be loaded onto the ship. I have this kit in the closet but have been afraid to start it without enough experience under my belt. I look forward to seeing the equipment being built. Your project is an inspiration.

Sport, Your build looks great. Thanks for sharing it with us. These build logs are great learning tools.

Your off to a great start. This kit will be my retirement present to myself in a couple of years. Thanks for posting the build log for all of us to learn from.

Mike, Your ship looks great. I had to make templates from the plans too for my Kate Cory but the hull came out pretty nice. Those pilot schooners have great lines. I see you are from MA. Go Bruins.

Dan, Thanks for taking the time to put all this information and photos in your build log. I have one of these little boats in my stash but don't feel I'm ready to build it just yet. Yours is looking darn nice and you are gaining some good expierience in the proccess.

Russ, It's just about 1/16" at the top and gets a bit thicker as it gets closer to the deck. I don't think it will show once all the internal detail is added. At this point I think it should be ok to even it up and smooth it out. There are a couple of places at the bow that it got right down to the planks but it's awful thin.

What a pain. I am carving away the solid bulwarks to the planking on my Kate Cory. I have been using a gouge, chisel and #11 blades and it is slowly coming along. I'm not sure if I will take it all the way to the planks or leave a thin bit of wood to add support. I am thinking of using one of those Dremel sanding wheels with the flappers on it. Any suggestions?

Your boat looks fantastic. It's very inspirational to me as a beginner myself. I have the ME Bounty Launch in the closet waiting for me to get a bit more experience and build up the nerv to start it. Thanks for taking the time to do a build log. It's a great service.

Ken,
Your AVS looks great. I love the sails. You can see why these were such fast ships. Since you have sails do you plan to have a crew standing watch? 3 or 4 would be all you need to show scale and some life aboard.
