  1. Russ, It's just about 1/16" at the top and gets a bit thicker as it gets closer to the deck. I don't think it will show once all the internal detail is added. At this point I think it should be ok to even it up and smooth it out. There are a couple of places at the bow that it got right down to the planks but it's awful thin.
  2. Here are a couple of pictures that show where I am. Considering it's my first wooden model I am pretty happy with the progress. I have gotten the bulwarks down pretty thin and it's going faster than I expected.
  3. What a pain. I am carving away the solid bulwarks to the planking on my Kate Cory. I have been using a gouge, chisel and #11 blades and it is slowly coming along. I'm not sure if I will take it all the way to the planks or leave a thin bit of wood to add support. I am thinking of using one of those Dremel sanding wheels with the flappers on it. Any suggestions? Al
  4. Your boat looks fantastic. It's very inspirational to me as a beginner myself. I have the ME Bounty Launch in the closet waiting for me to get a bit more experience and build up the nerv to start it. Thanks for taking the time to do a build log. It's a great service.
