I remember reading your log when I was considering my own build. It was very inspirational and a marvelous example of taking a "simple" kit and truly making it something special with extra details like the true planked deck, just to name one thing.

Thanks again for the inspiration, and for re-posting this as an inspiration to others.

cheers!

Hi Steve,

Another Phantom builder enjoying your work. I really like the way you laid your deck and margin plank. It is super to have another finished Phantom build on the Forum. I intend to take a look at you build often as I construct my phantom.

Thanks for reposting your log.

Cheers,

Hopeful aka David

great thread and beautiful build, I’m glad you posted it I am about to purchase this kit for my first build, I will also use Chucks instructions, if I may ask what kind of issues did you have with the plans/instructions that came with the kit. I read another thread that showed the templates to be way off their mark?

Thank you all, I hope a few kind find the log of some use.

Gulf - The templates are not an exact match for the lines shown on the plans so stick with one or the other. I went with the templates as-is, but they could be re-drawn from the hull lines on the plans. The directions are ok, there just isn't enough detail to help the first time builder. Chuck's practicum fills in the blanks so you'll find yourself using both the practicum and directions in some areas.

WOW!! Great pictures and details.  This is my first go with a model ship.  It is going to be....uuumm...unique that's for sure.  I think I have biggered up the railing already.  Anyway, did the kit come with a rudder or did you have to construct one yourself?
