How to tie a block to a spar so it sits parallet to the spar

Recommended Posts

Hi Al,

thanks for referencing Syren as a supplier for thread. I'll soon be in need. I assume they have a web site.

They sure do - check on the Index Page of MSW. They are owned by our own Chuck Passaro.

  Danny

Cheers, Danny

dan........there's a reason 70 year old neophytes like me appreciate guys like you.......you've been there, I do still have a tough time using CA on knots, it leaves a white residue, the diluted white glue is better but of course slower so I guess patience is the the bottom line

Danny: your blocks look good for 18th century ones: modern ones are much less rounded off. If you have James Lees' book on rigging, you can see that the contemporary model photos show blocks that look like yours.

Be sure to sign up for an epic Nelson/Trafalgar project if you would like to see it made into a TV series  http://trafalgar.tv
