Hi

The Mantua Victory 1:98 is in the same price range. I would choose that one over the constructo kit.

I've build it.

Rob

Thanks Guys,

although Caldercraft is a great looking kit, just the cost and can't find anywhere for the size.

Contructo and Mantua seam to be almost the same yet not much smaller that Caldercraft.

so really not sure now :( wife does not mind much!!

Contructo

enjoy the trip - shame that the vessel is mainly de- masted at present - but always worth the visit

Who's a lucky boy then? :P

I'm sure you'll enjoy this build, and there's plenty of Caldercraft build logs here for reference and guidance. I look forward to seeing your build log started.

Rob, just saw your comment on preferring the Mantua over the Constructo.

Can you say why?

Also, can you say anything about the quality of the instructions for either.

The choice for the mantua model is purely based on personal preferences.

The wood quality of the mantua model is better. Constructo uses african walnut, that has much coarser grain. Also is constructo using contrasting wood colors and lots of shining brass. If thats your thing it's fine.

Instructions are a bit better on the constructo one. But "hang" your decision on it.

By the way: I've build the Mantua model.
