Nice log.  I did this plastic model nearly 50 years ago as it came in the box.  It is a matter of if I knew then what I know now, I'd have done it a bit differently.  However, my efforts likely not go as far as you are going here.  You do spark ideas.  (Though, I am not sure if I still have a copy of the model in my stash.

Great work.  I look forward to watching this build.

Thanks Robert. The kit has many shortcomings but it does have the potential to build into a pretty nice representation of the ship. So much more could be done than I'm doing. As an example (It's to late at this stage) I'm really wishing I would have fully rigged the carronades at least.

This is an outstanding build!  I especially like the way you have colored and weathered the deck.  Very realistic.

Thanks Todd. The moulded wood grain looked to pronounced, so I sanded it smooth. (I'm sanded the grain down on every part that has it as well). Once painted I ran a piece of worn out 320 grit sandpaper over it.

Still doing ratlines on the upper masts. A time consuming tedious job as y'all know.

The pic is of the lower foremast with spar pole and one run of ratline. As I mentioned previously I am holding off on the lower ratlines till I have some of the running rigging finished. I want to get the uppers done before I add the yards.

Hi Alex, its a beautiful build and encouraging for me to finish my 50 year build.  I was wondering how you attached the deadeyes securely to the channels and how you fastened the channel to the hull so that they stay put.

Hi Alex. Build is really looking great. We must be about the same age, because I built the Revell Connie about 15 years ago after having watched my grandfather start one in '68, and in my case, fail to complete it as a tween in the mid '70's (my grandfather having died in early '69).

Current Builds: Bluejacket USS KearsargeRRS Discovery 1:72 scratch

Completed Builds: Model Shipways 1:96 Flying Fish | Model Shipways 1:64 US Brig Niagara | Model Shipways 1:64 Pride of Baltimore II (modified) | Midwest Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack | Heller 1:150 Passat | Revell 1:96 USS Constitution
