ACADEMY 1:800 (14213) USS NIMITZ

JKC27

Recommended Posts

One of the kits I got for Christmas. Not an overly complex kit aside from the few small parts. Instructions are easy to follow. However.....there are no instructions at all regarding the paint scheme.  Academy's webpage has nothing either.

Any suggestions on where to look for this information?

My first thought is that such information should not be too difficult to find, given the popularity of USN vessels as kit subjects (and without having to recreate all of the weird and wonderful WW2 camo schemes). Try searching for Nimitz specifically, and you should be able to find something among the plastic modeling crowd -- here is one example.

Good luck!

Check out the Cybermodeler site. This is the USS Essex and shows Viet Nam era colors: https://www.cybermodeler.com/naval/essex/essex_all.shtml

For paint selections look here: https://www.cybermodeler.com/resource6.shtml

Look at the bottom box in his right column for Modern USN colors. He has comparisons for a number of hobby paint lines.

Good hunting!

What did you think? He's really good for aircraft, but does a decent job on naval colors.
