Yamato by shipgeezer - Trumpeter - 1/200 - PLASTIC

I have started building the Trumpeter Yamato, so if I can, will include some tips and tricks of things I have done in building this kit. I have noticed one glaring error as far as I can tell and wonder if others see the same thing?? The kit instructions include 4 secondary turrets, however, that being said, when I look at the history and the books, there are only 2 secondary turrets. The book lists 4 saying there is one for and one aft and two amidships. Does anyone know where the two amidships are??

you should consider investing into this book: 

 

 

It clearly describes the large modifications that took place between the 1941 version and the 1945 version of the ship. Your question about the number of secondary turrets will be answered.

Both the Yamato and the Musashi had their secondary armament changed during the war, removing two of the 6 inch turrets to make room for more anti-aircraft batteries. Does the Trumpeter kit support both the early and late war variants?
