The plastic kit is H-330 1972 New box, bought off of Ebay.  I washed it with Dawn dish soap and rinsed it in warm water.  Debating on whether to glue the some part together before spraying Surface Primer L Gray, or, spray on the spruce first.

Having much fun learning the hobby! 

Primed  the model with Tamiya Light Grey Surface Primer.  It went on well.  The small can just put two coats on both sides.  Will look into automotive fine primer for the next ship.

Tamiya acrylic paint used to paint the model.  Glycerin Oil used for a paint retarder.  One part oil to nine parts water.  I mixed 50/50 on retarder and paint. 

How often should sand the model?

The model is coming along.  Painting is a challenge with my hands shaking because of Cerebral Palsy.  Next model I will use tape before painting.

My hands are getting steadier.  Lots to learn about painting.  This model I am using Tamiya acrylic .  The two Men O' War models acrylic craft paint will be tried.  Excited to compare the results.

 

Soon rigging will start.  Going to have to learn how to tie tiny knots.

Funny you should ask.  I am finishing the rigging this week.  Primed the CSS Alabama for painting.  Had to take a few months off to pay off my credit cards.  God, I missed working with my hands!  Picked up Aurora Heller "Soleil Royal", 1/100, as my fifth model

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever finish the Morgan? I just bought one as well on Ebay.

 

In 1969 my dad bought me the kit during a visit at Mystic seaport in Conn.  I built it, but it was difficuilt for me being only 14 years old, and it looked ok at the time, but Im sure I may many mistakes.  Now that I’m 70, I want to build it correctly.  

 

My kit is the 1968 issue in a 1971 hard box. Fun reminiscing with the old kits. I collect all the old kits I built as a kid. Must have 200 or more. The kit I just bought is in beautiful shape. 

 

Your kit was progressing nicely, maybe I missed a thread where it was done.
