My father was gifted a model ship sometime in the early 70's by my uncle who was serving in Germany. I am unable to ask either of them about the ship. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help.  Once I know where to to post the information, I have taken several pictures.  Thanks

Hi, Derek. That sort of introduction strongly suggests that your model is an example of a mass-produced decor model. For more information, click here.

Thank you all for your responses. The one I have looks almost identical to the top picture ccoyle has in his explanation, except mine has four masts. I figured it was a mass produced one, just wanted more info to make a decision on its future. Do any of you know of a school, or class that could use a fairly damaged ship to practice/learn restoring it. I would be happy to donate it rather than just get rid of it. I live in Indiana, so the closer the better, but would be willing to help with some shipping costs if too far to deliver.

Thank you again for your responses.

Derek, it might be easier giving it to some youngster in your neighborhood/area who has a interest in modeling. You could contact middle schools and see if they know a young boy or girl with interest in ship modeling. Just a thought.
