Anna Posted September 12 #1 Posted September 12 Hi fellow ship enthusiasts! The Endurance was my first 'big ship' and i would like to share it here. Currently i'm making the Flying Dutchman (also by Occre) and I just ordered Occre's new Soleil Royal. Before this I made the Mississippi by AT, the Occre San Francisco tram and the small Callela boat. Fell in love with wood modeling and ships! Time for the second layer And sanding really happy with the results Painting it black felt kind of wrong but after looking up old material and reading up about The endurance I decided to paint it black. Added first details. This was tricky Also quite the challenge to keep the masts straight: Sails now! And she is Finished! How does everyone display their ships at home? Knocklouder Posted September 12 #4 Posted September 12 (edited) Great work Congratulations , yes protect your work, it is fantastic. Some like to clean their models . I don't like dusting lol so bought a case for some, they have been under plexiglass for two years now no dust on them, yours doesn't have to be this big, it was a few hundred bucks to get made, but one for just one ship won't be that much i also have 6 in this case. A display case keeps your work well proteced . Great work. Bob M. Reading the books about Shackleton’s expedition were one thing; the discovery of her under the ice was truly the catalyst for my wanting to build her.
