Looking good Eric. One step closer to done eh?

I'm getting kind of antsy to move on from this ship... I won't until I'm done but it feels like I've been rigging for months... just started the connector ratlines from the lower to the upper thru the crowsnest... this time of year tho is hell for my allergies so work has been slow or none at all for days at a time.... hard to focus when sneezing and sniffling and with tears in the eyes. It's exhausting... I'd rather rig ;)

I here ya. We have all the smoke from the "rim fire" (in Yosemite) and its killing me. Wake up feeling like I smoked a carton of cigarettes in my sleep. I've just got a good rhythm right now and have put my rattlesnake out of view. What are you building next ?

Next? You mean if I ever finish this one? Hmmmm.... it is down to a few.... either the Diana by Caldercraft, the superby by mantua, or maybe a wild card that I've never spoke of.... the Sequin from Bluejacket. It is a tug from the late 1800's. This one has several advantages.... a lot of woodworking and it is 1/3rd the cost of the other two. It is probably the front runner now... while it doesn't have sails or cannons of a warship of old it does have a cool history and I think I could get lost in the details.

-or- ???????? so many choices.....

On a different note... good luck with that fire... sounds horrible to be stuck downwind with no options....

I ordered several different sizes of Morope...well actually I ordered what I thought I needed first, and what I received was too small so placed a different order for proper size rope. I just need to remember where I put the first order, because that rope would be the proper thickness for those tiny upper deadeyes

This weekend provided a great opportunity to work on my builds. I've finished the yard arms ? And worked more on the upper ratlines. So sick of the ratlines. I Like the othe aspects of the rigging with the exception of the plans/instructions lack of consistency.

Robert your build log is great ! Visually their is some top notch photos in your log that have already answered some of my questions with this build. Now if I could just understand what "Is dit de juiste manier om de ra te bevestigen?" ment or be able to read any of your log I would be set.

Your the best Robert! Do you have a method for the flags ? I'm thinking ill just eyeball them and hope they line up. My luck would be to have them come out horribly crooked.

Did your kit have the streamer flag with it (the long one) ? That flag seems to have the most potential for disaster. Im also working on my sails and plan on furling them. The kit supplied sails are cheep and have contrasting thead. I think I'll use some of my wifes expesive linnens for this. I know she will be made at first but in the end she will be happy buying new sheets. "its easier to ask for forgiveness that to ask for permission."

Eric,

I use the sail and vlags of the KIT.

The sails of the kit did not look nice, but I have a wire in the sail mounted so they are nice and tight. The sails are wetted with some wood glue diluted with water and applied to dry.

maybe some pictures say more. :D  :D

I just caught you build today, beautifully done. I just caught some constructive criticism on my build of the Rattlesnake - my rope coils were/are sloppy [my term]. I really didn't pay too much attention to them. So my question to you is how did you achieve such nice results?
