  1. This link for all the info you need on CA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanoacrylate
  2. Leave out the varnish is my thoughts as well - you can never be sure you have covered it adequately anyhow - net result wil be some tarnished streaks.
  3. I simply use a couple of granny knots sealed with the smallest drops of CA for blocks upto 4mm, the line forming a simple strop on the block tied off to the eyelet.
  4. Of the three models I have built now - all CC only one has a coppered bottom, but in all honesty its doesnt worry me but I must say I really enjoyed the coppering stage of the build in my HMS Snake, if the model comes with it so be it, I'll put it on.
  5. The Jalouse is a CC Kit designed around the same time as the Crusier/Snake, whilst the plans are very good the instruction booklet is not a patch on that of the Badger on of the latest kits. I have completed 3 of the CC kits now and the Snake was by far the hardest and most complex, I would be a little cautious in undertaking the Jalouse as a first kit - better to try one of the smaller kits and gain some experience in the techniques needed. The Jalouse makes a great model without doubt like all of the CC kits I am just passing on the expert knowledge I was given when I first started building timber models - after a long chat with a very knowledgeable gentleman at Westbourne Models over 5 years ago, well it worked for me.
  6. I use very hot water in a tall Thermos flask soaked for about 10 minutes, I am told a little ammonia helps even more. Above all once shaped I dry the palnt of any free moisture and allow to dry naturally for 20 mins or so to help reduce shrinkage.Shaping is simply done between my fingers.
  7. She makes a fine build, was my second and I loved every minute of it, the plans are good as is the quality of the timbers. My own preference is not to finish with oils but simple use a matt varinish.
  8. I cut my Snakes plates to size and where possible avoided any overlapping. Norman
