    Hi Ulises Victoria,
Thank you for the photos and update.  The perspective really let's me see what you mean, and the details too but I love the way you have tested the different finishes and treatments and that is a great lesson for me!  The bit about slowing down and not rushing things might be a good lesson for me too haha. Nah, who am I kidding? haha

Every ship should have her own mysteries!

So please do not call it a mistake (it looks too good), and just call it a a cunning plan to give your Royal Louis her own special touch!

You really are making quick progress!

I can't wait to see (and steal) the method of caulking that works best for you

    Hi again,

I am so happy to be here from the very beginning to watch you build another magnificent ship!   If the box for your Royal Louis was any bigger then you would need a larger desk just to hold it haha.

But on the bright side, at least you don't have too much room to lose things

    Hi Mike,

Your rigging truly looks wonderful and I hope you are proud!

I can't be too much help myself sorry as I have not yet attempted to put sails on something so complicated, but yes I have read too about attaching sails to the yards before attaching the yards to the masts.

It would be a shame to hide your incredible work, but on the other hand there is nothing that looks finer than a sailing ship with full sails.  And then just to prove me wrong there are some wonderful examples of ships with furled sails that are a cross between two perfections.

Again, please take my advice with a grain of salt based on my experience, but is it worth trying your hand at one set of sails, both fully out (I doubt that is the correct term) and one furled and see what you are happiest with yourself?  Keeping in mind your Bounty looks SO good that it would be a real shame to do the sails in a way that you didn't like yourself.

I hope that makes sense and good luck with your decision!!

    Hi Mike,

Wow!  I am still amazed at the quality of your work as you are so new to the hobby yourself.  Your shrouds look fantastic!

Although you have lots count of the number of knots, I hope you are keeping a record of the new and creative swear words so that you can use them on special occasions

    Wow Mike,

That looks just fantastic!  Great job!  I really did like your planking (even after reading of your trials and tribulations) but the finished hull just looks so special!

I do feel your pain Mike!

I know from my own experiences too of how badly things can go when we follow instructions.  Silly us!  But I also know how good it feels when we get it right with the help from the experienced builders here and everything is always better second or third time!

I really do look forward to seeing your final planking!

    Hi Mike,

It sounds like you are getting some great advice, and although I am no help at all (I have not yet experienced planking) I have been following another log where a friend has just gone through the same troubles as you.  If you are interested here is a link to his page and solution that suited him (although everyone has to choose the one they like best for themselves).

Good luck with your planking and the method you settle on for bending!

    Hi Mike,

I haven't experienced planking or warping yet myself so I really haven't been able to offer any help or advice to your dilemmas.

BUT, I do have to agree that your decking looks fantastic!  I tried the pencil and white glue method myself but yours looks so much better!

    Hi Mike!

I know what you mean about how bad it feels when you break something, or find out you did it wrong.  However I also know how wonderful you feel when you fix it or make it even better!  You can do it!

I hope you have more of those wonderful feelings at success than the bad ones of things not working out.

    Have fun!

    Hi again Mike!

You may not see so much progression yourself for your hours of fun but I still think it is looking great!  I can also start to see and imagine what is to come and I find that is pretty exciting too.

Haha I am not sure of the definition of kit bashing but I like yours.  And a big thank you for the tip on CA Glue versus Varnish too!

    Keep having fun!

In fact "magnificent" doesn't seem a good enough word for the pictures of your completed Sovereign of the Seas, but it will have to do as I clicked "like" about a thousand times and that didn't show how impressed I am at your workmanship.

Congrats again my friend, you truly deserve every word said above.

    Hi Jay!

Thank you for a wonderful video tutorial!  Haha you should not be embarrassed at all!

Although I don't have your tools, it really was a learning experience to see them in action thank you.  However, I did learn some really helpful tips from something as simple (but useful) as labeling my drill sizes, to your clamping method with the peg and the board (what a great idea) and how you made the eye bolts was just so clever and easy.

Thank you again!  You really have helped me
