  1. hello some progress with weathering, the cabins are not attached yet. next will be the mast and more weathering :-)
  2. Dear all, after a long time I am in the workshop again 🙂 this is my new model Taka, kind of boat which has been in service till 1990's or so in black sea region of Turkey, mainly used for cargo or fishing purposes. the model will be a diaroma, so no planking below the water line. I applied some weathering to one side, later to be applied to all parts. Mehmet
  3. dear all after multiple trials with the resin, I am finished at last :-) I admit that fishes in the crates look awkward :-) next will be the wooden frame and display box.
  4. some progress.....great problem with resin casting unfortunately. I want to have small ripples on the sea, but resin levels of whatever I do to make the ripples. any suggestions?
  5. dear all thank you very much for your nice comments and likes, attached are the 2 figures in the boat, the captain was a tank commander, had his stripes and medals removed. also he had a coat and a belt which were also removed and filled with putty. In fact he was holding a cap in one hand and a water bottle in the other just about to drink from it. I had to exchange the hands with the other guy who is pulling a fish net. now the captain will hold the rudder with one hand light a cigarette with the other :-) due to improper light figures are not seen much clearly, I will add more soon :-)
  6. hello every body, this time I am so motivated to build a diaroma. and the first step; building the boat :-) model is based on a drawing of a boat which was reported to be about 4-5 m. by the drawer. due to scaling issues in my scale it is now around 7 m. I also did ome modifications on the deck.
  7. hello every body I am finished with my langoustier, name plates and lanterns are added, and put in display case
  8. thank you all :-) Patrick the figures are resin casted soldiers at the scale, the guys working on the crab trap are tank repair crew man the captain was an army police man had to be converted to a captain :-)
  9. hello everybody some progress so far, I have made the deck items such as crab traps, barrels, buckets and buoyancy materials. .....and figures. Figure faces are awful I know :-) especially captain's face looks as if he has recently been out from a horror movie....I do not know what to do....in you tube videos all look pretty easy to make. I guess it will be finished in few weeks mehmet
  10. Thank you all for comments and likes. Omega dont give up :-) thank you very much for the comments. In fact it is easy after you get it, after lots of trial and error. If interested i can help you with the methods
  11. hello everybody I am finished with the sails and the windlass, next will be the deck items and the crew.
  12. dear all I will be glad if you have any ideas about my question; actually I was planning the deck buildings to be in the color of the photo below (Dagmar Aaen, Germany). in the records it says that oregon pine was used for this (if I am not wrong). I also used pine (it was all wet when I found it and was in the color I wanted) and applied around 3-4 layers of varnish on it but I could not reach the color I like, what would you suggest for that? pinotex? if pinotex which color? oak? pine? thanks Mehmet the reference for the picture; http://www.hajkutter.dk/program-2015/sejl-med-alle-dage/galleri/deltagende-skibe/hajkuttere/dagmar-aaen-de
  13. hello everybody I have made some progress, deck buildings are constructed (not glued to the deck yet) and the body is painted-weathered. some salt streaks are applied to the outer hull. in order to remove the paint at random locations, I first applied varnish to the whole body and painted aftterwards when dried. Applying the masking tape and detaching it at random locations leads to loss of paint on those areas, but better to be carefull....as a large area of paint can be lost :-) which actually happened in the green painted area of the outer hull....
  14. hello every body, progress so far.... I would like to have your opinion, do you think the inside of the bullwark be better painted or left plain as in the photos? thanks Mehmet
  15. thank you :-) this time I tried hard to make it look more like traditional with stealer planks etc :-)
  16. thank you Patrick, hope she will be exactly like how you described. More over, I will add some figures; my new habbit :-)
