cobra1951 got a reaction from canoe21 in HMB Endeavour by cobra1951 - OcCre - 1:54
First thank you for all the like and remarks and input, much appreciated :)
I was waiting for the first problem to pop up and here it is.
4 blocks of Balsa to make the shape of the bluff bow
2 blocks to be fitted each side into the space at the bow
The problem is Occre have supplied blocks meant for a smaller kit
They measure 15mm x 80mm x 100mm
But they should be 23mm x 80mm x 115mm
So no chance of filling the spaces at the bow.
I will contact my supplier on Monday to get replacements, So there will be a delay in the build until they arrive

Liverpool...once the centre of the shipping universe...and no decent model shop.
What has become of this world

Hi Robin
There is no model shop in Liverpool anymore, the one that used to be did not stock wood etc only plastic kits and train sets.
Also my supplier has no stock of the required size according to their website
So i will have to wait anyway

cobra1951 got a reaction from Eddie in Trabakul by donrobinson - FINISHED - MarisStella - 1:32 scale
Hi Don
I noticed the way they have of fixing their bulkheads in alignment looks pretty solid. Makes a nice change to see a manufacturer taking a different approach to designs :)

Looking good Don
An interesting approach to deck planking, i haven't seen a double planked one before, but once the dreaded sanding is over you will have a nice smooth bed to lay the next lot of planking

Smooth move with the table saw, Robin. You must secure the old X-mas list!!! Lovely work too

Very smart with the rubbings to get the curvature you need.
I had a similar conversation on spending money on tools I don't use and so my admiral now has a really nice jewelry box, pen holder, candy bowl, custom picture frames and a huge supply of pens and pencils. Now she buys me gift cards to places that sell the tools I want.

Instead of making the pin rail I made up my mind about making the extra frames.
I'll make them!
Imho there's too much "nothing" in between the frames and I think there should be more frames.
I hesitated to make them, because they won't be that visible. Top oar bench and all the oars will hide much of the inside of the hull, but I know I will feel guilty when I let it go.
Another...silly... reason. I got myself a Proxxon scroll saw table and the Admiral started to make funny comments about me not using it.
That's bad news for my Christmas wish list, so I better do something with it.
So...here we go!
Used the frames of my other bireme kit to mark the lines. (old fashioned gravestone rubbing technique ).
Neat thing! Very handy indeed!
dry fitting the extra frames.
I'll stain them before I glue them in place.
When I finished this...I can do the tensioning cables and top seat beams....and the pin rail of course.
More soon,
Robin
