very kind.....may not be as good a job as sawdust dave, but it should look nice in the end....cheated on the ratlines,..... no clove hitches...too small thread.....so now the ship will only have half the value when finished ...haha.......call me shortcut vic i guess, when building, one has to decide the degree of accuracy or refinement one can do, or wishes to do.....hmmmm..even if i can feel very happy about something i build, when i look at some of the great modelers out there, i always am aware of my limitations whether self imposed or genetic .....but having fun is priority.....

haha....from what i see of your build, you'll make mine look simplistic or even amaturish .........been out of touch with the forums aside from throwing in a photo here or there....uh...mostly there ............best thing though for me, was using pear wood or some other suitable hardwood....so much easier to work with, and when i pick up the model, it doesn't leave accidental fingernail gouges on the sanded surfaces ...... if i used the basswood, i'd have to put on my ballet slippers and wear a tutu

aaaah....just realizing.....rigging....what a problem i have trying to find rigging plans...bought the plans for musees de la marine, and they were useless unless i read italian....and the luci's couronne plans, weren't helpful as the numbers on the lines didn't match the belaying points on the deck plan.....may have to purchase some plans for the mantua kit, as mine is closer to that.....the corel plans are available online, but the resolutions is so poor, it's hard to read..... ...i dunno....haven't the patience to do alot of research in books etc. as it's a close enough for jazz effort, as this ship i'm doing is a bit of a fantasy ship to begin with...........great advantage of doing a kit, for sure in this regard, although some kit plans leave a lot to be desired, and one has to do research anyways......which, it seems may be what i may end up having to do...though i do have a few books...yuk....i'm just not a reader, just a full time doer

hmmmmm....christmas break......hmmmmm....may be longer than that .....then again it's difficult when there are two ships demanding to be finished at the same time......i wonder what i'll end up doing........a master of division........as i mentioned once, if i had written the wizzard of oz, the story would have ended at the scarecrow and the fork in the road ......fa la la la la.......la la..la...la...........................

thanks, and ha......was going to leave off on the couronne and finish my confed, but i can 't seem to stop working on it..........found some beads on line, cut one in half on an angle and added two more on top....piece of copper wire hammered down the center after drilling holes in base......was going to do gold for the glamour, but i think i can leave the natural color of the beads...... oh... bent rings around the door frames......

oh well, i thought i'd add a little update....confed still on hold ...can't seem to stop here...... ..many parts still not glued in place......used a nikon 105macro with fill flash for what it's worth ....threw in the first shot, my wife took, just cause i thought it was amusing...... still gonna be a lot of micro sanding and painting when everything's in place......i kinda enjoy that.....found these little gold plated rings at the dollar store....purchased 5 packs....opened them up and straightened them, then bent them sideways to fit around the door frames...gives more dimension....using them for other decorations too....and still more to come, if i can figure out what to do .........oh....yes...we have a wood stove....-25 celcius here......

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
