lionfish reacted to gjdale in Bomb Vessel Granado 1742 by gjdale - FINISHED - 1/48 - Cross-Section
The shipyard has been closed for most of the weekend as we mourn the passing of the Shipyard Supervisor, Sam the Chocolate Labrador. After a lengthy battle with pharyngeal paralysis over the last year, Sam was put to sleep by our Vet on Saturday morning. He went peacefully, in his favourite bed in the sun in our family room, with the Admiral and I by his side. We miss him terribly but remember fondly the 13 years of love and devotion he gave us. I thought I would share a few photos of my best mate and shadow for so long.
Sam came to us as a one-year-old pup:
It didn't take him long to work out that the most comfortable seat in the house was mine. Here he is, a couple of years ago, aged 12:
More recently, at the grand old age of 14, he's had a young playmate for company and he's been very tolerant of her:
They liked to share the sunshine together:
I miss him like crazy, but will always smile when I think of him with those doleful eyes and the tail that never stopped wagging.

Thanks Patrick and Lionfish for the very kind works.
Patrick, I am really pleased to have finished my first build and very happy with the way she turned out. Learned a lot and certainly will learn even more on my next build!
Lionfish, understand your time problem...I have it as well, but I just chip away with an hour here and there. Hang in there!
Cheers,
Nigel.

Finally finished mounting the carronades. Been a busy summer and I have just gotten back to it during the long winter here in Minnesota. Holiday trip to Napa and the Rose Bowl with the kids. Go Cardinal!
Got the bronze chasers plus the carronades. Working on the rest of the carronade rigging now.

Thank you Thanasis for the info and compliment I'll be looking that up right away and it may also come in handy for reference material for my next build which will be Charon boat man of the river Styx. Thanks for the compliments Lionfish I may just do that you know make one out of thin balsa with a lead keel, it would shatter, splinter and sink nicely.

lionfish reacted to SawdustDave in Cutter Cheerful 1806 by SawdustDave - FINISHED - 1:48th scale
Thanks again guys.
It felt strange to sleep in this morning with no pressing reason to open the shop at 5:00 am as usual.
Admiral is nervous about her duties of shooting the presentation video with my Ipad camera.
Spent 30 minutes going over both models and cannot find anything to tweek at this point....all good to go.
Ken.... at this point, I am planning to bring the decoy back with me as a personal reminder of the whole project.
Guess I have become rather fond of the cute little thing.
Now we're looking forward to dusting off the SOS build.
