Before I could start to paint the walls and the bulwark I had to make and install a profile rail.

    Update....Bulkheads
Before returning to the few hull carvings remaining to be done, I spent a few hours re-visiting the ornamentation of the three main bulkheads on the weather decks.  I have recognized all along that they still needed a little more ornamentation, but never could decide what I wanted to put on them.
Here's what I came up with.... (before and after pics)

May still need to tweek the area on each side of the half deck initials "CR" seen in the middle pic....

Note that the height of the image was a little too tall for the panel I will be sticking it in, so I had to distort the image slightly before gluing it to the vinyl board.

Also, I'll be trying something a little different with this new carving.
I discovered that much finer detail can be achieved by etching and carving into the plastic casting.

I think this rough shaping in vinyl will give me a sharp enough mold casting to make a decent piece.

Rough shaping done.... I went back to vinyl for this one because I want to see if I can get the same details using the new scalpel tools.

Just making a final check of the scale before I spend hours on this piece and decide the scale was not right.  Been there, done that.... lol

Think I'll spare you folks all the step-by-step on this one.....like watching grass grow, right?

Pretty day for golf tomorrow.... then poker club night.
Looks like a short day in the ship yard.

Hi Jose,  thanks for the comments.

I used Coreldraw to create a drawing and cut the windows out using the laser cutter.   They're 1/32" thick (roughly 0.5mm) and the munnions and outside framing are the same.

In the photo, the frames are on top and you can see the size by comparing them to the dime in the picture.

To glaze them, I used MicroMark's Micro-Glaze.  It's a white liquid that when dry is is clear and thin.   Because the wood is so thin, I had to change the way I did it from the instructions because the frames warped badly.

I put the window frame on a piece of polyethylene bag (the stuff sticks to everything else including glass) and filled the openings with the glazing.  I put another piece of bag on top and then a piece of thick, heavy plate glass on top.  I let it sit for 24 hours and remove the top glass and bag.  At this point, the glaze was "set" but not dry and still white.  I left off the bag and glass until it was almost clear.  At this point the wood would start to warp again and I'd put the glass back on for another 12 hours or so.

    I hope that helps.

All 20 guns are now installed.  The boat looks good with them all lined up.  One thing I noticed is that the four quoin handles I created this time are both smaller and better looking than those I made before.  I guess I’m doing better; but I won’t be starting over.  The work on the hull aft will not wait any longer; I have to get to it.

Now the head is truly finished.  The bow sprint with its gammoning, the ‘seats of ease’, and the platform are complete.  I do plan on making a hand railing, but I want to wait until the rigging is done so I can insure that the railing doesn’t foul the lines.  So, for now, my plan is to move aft with the installation of the last 4 guns.
