  1. Thabks for the information Allan... Ihave not done any on my other boats but have seen some on the Corel model, and thought maybe this was the way to go..... I will pass in them..... so the nails are for tacking planks ect...... never gave that a thought as I use my own nails... so thanks for the tip .. JM
  2. To all WASA Billings builders. Just planning ahead to finish off the planking on my build and have seen a number of nailed hulls (with a lot of nails). My kit does not supply nails in any number to complete a hull nailing task. (52 nails...whatever they are for ??) I can order the nails and lay them out on the hull.. time consuming but no problem really. some builds appear to have not used nails at all...... could always use pin holes then varnish which would appear to be nails..... I think... Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated from anyone... Thanks JM

  4. Ian, thanks for the comments.... this is the most difficult kit I have done and I can see why you gave up on it. There are still a number of issues with the guidelines and the drawings but I have found that the help I get from the site is fantastic. The kits are much better now so try a wooden ship again and let it rip !!!! Take care and stay safe. JM
  5. Backer...... Thankyou for your reply.... Looked everywhere but no rudder assemblies at all. I did find an online shop in Toronto where I have purchased rudder assemblies (Gudgeons & Pintles ) https://www.castyouranchorhobby.com/Category/gudgeons_pintles They will need modifying but better that than making them from scratch. Thanks you again for the picture and information. Just to finish your craftmanship is outstanding....... Stay safe. JM
  6. Currently working on the transom and rudder assembly.... well if I could find the rudder assembly. ! Anyone aware of how the rudder is attached? It looks like I will have to make the assemblies from scratch. Is this right or am I missing something? nothing surprises with this kit..... Quite challenging but perfect covid project..... stay safe everyone... JM
  7. Basic Hull finished now for the sanding and cleaning up..... amazing the amount you can get done on lockdown !!! Painting it blue or red (the correct colour I believe) ..... not sure which one to do. I prefer the blue. Any thoughts ??

  18. Well things are moving again after the summer break. Great to be be back at it, and looking forward to getting a lot done this winter.
  19. Modeling has slowed down due to the summer outdoor chores, but I am managing to move along slowly. Hit some snags as I broke the bulwark projections on the front end stay, and had to do a repair. Also some of the "pins on the bulwark broke off. Not sure how this happened though. It can be repaired when I get more time. Onward and forward with a great seal to do. Will take some parts outside and complete them on the deck as the weather is fantastic.
  20. Well I agree plastic models were not for me either. You cannot beat working in wood JM
  21. Looks like a great start, can I ask were the Jolly Roger popped up from ?? I have not seen it before. JM
