    Hello All,
The rest of the stern windows were cut out and the part cut from the ply sheet.

The part was reduced in thickness from 2mm to 1mm by carefully shaving off 1 layer of ply and then sanding it to size. The vertical frames for the windows were then fitted.

These are made from 0.87mm styrene rod.

Looks much better with full length planks, I am not a fan of built up bow sections.

    Hello All,
Just a quick update, I have sanded back the nameplate and I am very happy with how it turned out.

It was test fitted into it's mount

Then the mount was glued to the base and when it was dry everything was dry fitted together.

It is now ready for a few coats of clear varnish. The first coat was applied a few minutes ago.
Thanks for looking and the likes.

Thanks for views likes and comments everyone- because the planking strips supplied with the kit arn't long enough i dug out some left over from previous billings builds- although a bit on the rough side i did want to have full length planks for the first few runs. First i pencilled off the line where the ply bulwarks will reach too.

    take care all

    Hello All,
The rigging for the main gaff was set up. The topping lift is the same as the fore gaff except that it belays on the port aft cap rail pin-rack. The main gaff also has a throat halyard instead of a sling and this is reeved between a 3mm double block attached to the starboard side of the main trestle tree and a 3mm single block tied to an eyelet on the jaws of the gaff, it belays on the starboard aft pin rack.

The rudder and driver boom have also been fitted and the driver boom rigged.

The guy pendants are rigged through a 3mm double block on a 15mm pendant tied to the end of the boom, a 3mm single block is hooked into the transom and the falls tied to the end of this block is reeved through the two blocks and belays on the cleat on the capping rail.

The topping lift standing end is tied to the end of the boom and goes up through a 3mm double block attached to the mainmast cap then down towards the deck where a 3mm double block is tied to the end of it 96mm from the deck it is rigged with a 3mm single block hooked into the deck and belays to the starboard cleat on the mainmast.

The mainmast back stays were also set up, they are rigged the same as the foremast backstays.

And the last line to be rigged, the main topgallant stay, was tied off. It had been tied to the forestay collar earlier and only needed to be seized to the main topmast.
That completes the standing and running rigging for this ship. The next jobs are to make rope hanks and coils to drape over the belaying pins and cleats and to construct and fit the anchor.

Oops! just realized looking at the last photo, there is one more line to rig, the flag halyard.

    Hello All,
The display base has had it's final coat of varnish and the Pickle has been mounted on it.

I am calling this model finished.
As you will notice the ship's boats have not been fitted, this is just a personal preference because they would have been stowed on the starboard side between gunports 3 and 4 and I feel would upset the balance of the deck. They won't go to waste, one will be used on the Supply and will be used on another build.
I have enjoyed building this kit and highly recommend it to anyone wishing to build a small scale schooner especially those contemplating their first build as the building instructions are very comprehensive and when used in conjunction with the plans make the building and rigging process easy to understand and enough material is supplied to cover any small mistakes or lost parts.
Anyhow enough waffle, below are some photos of the finished model. I apologize for the mixture of photos taken inside and outside but I was trying to get some in a good light, don't know if I managed it!

    Hello All,
The fore topgallant stay was the next line rigged, it runs from the top of the fore topmast through a 3mm block attached to the end of the bowsprit and then runs back to the bow, an eye is formed into the end of the stay and it secured to the eyelet in the bow by a short lanyard and a hook.

The bobstay has also been fitted to the bowsprit, it is seized to an eyelet in the stempost and a 3mm deadeye is tied to the other end of it, it is the rigged to the 3mm deadeye attached to the bowsprit cap.

The foreyard and the fore topmast yard lifts have also been rigged.

The fore topmast yard lift standing end is secured to each end of the yard and passes through a 3mm single block, which is attached to the topmast with a cut splice seated on the hounds and then down to the deck to belay on the capping rail pin rack.

The standing ends of the foreyard lifts are seized to the end of the 3mm single blocks which are attached to the centre of the mastcap. The running end reeves through the 3mm block attached to each end of the yard and back through the block on the mastcap and down to belay on the capping rail pin rack.

The foreyard lifts belay to the first pin and the fore topmast yard lifts belay to the second one.
