    Here's what's been keeping me out of the shipyard for the last weeks.  Our 25 year old cedar deck finally succumbed to rot and had to be removed.  We did that and rebuild the decking and railing.  I'm at a standstill while I wait for special ordered lumber, so it's back to modeling!

    Model  Expo has a 1/24 smooth bore cannon kit, 18th century, that looks to be a 9 pounder.  I don't need the kit, just the barrels (2).  Who can I contact to see if they would be willing to sell me just 2 barrels?  Would work great on my Triton section.

    Thanks everyone for the nice words and the likes!

    The major components left for the rigging other than that last yard are just the braces. While there are a lot of them to do, they are relatively easy to rig compared to what has been done already. Other items are the anchors and stern lanterns and I will also add all the rope coils at the belaying pins and on the deck where needed. May be a few other things I'm not thinking of but those are the main things to do.

    I decided against getting distracted from completing the gun tackle for the main deck carronades so I have started on the port side 12 guns. Why stop when you're on a roll!

    The pictures explain the tackle installation for one of the 32 pounder carronades. 8 to go.

    @Edwin,
    .....produce a masterpiece... Thx for the trust you have in me And I think you mean that you participated in the four days march  from Nijmegen or as we call it "de vierdaagse van Nijmegen). well, respect my friend

    And of course the weekly update:
    I removed the woodstrips from the deck in front. I was not quit satisfied with it. Allready replaced it. Only have to put the pins on it....
    I also had to do some modifications. So I had to lower the frontside of the frontdeck because I found out that that piece of wood that coveres the front, wasn't high enough.
    And I did some painting. The black paint I will polish and then a second black coating. But that's for next week....

    @Edwin: thx and as you say, I have all the time in the world. I want to be busy with this ship for at least several years

    And a small update:
    Put some peaces on the decks. For the colour, I used walnut wood stain and Artesania oil. Till now everything fits pretty well. I tried with round timber if the holes for the bowsprit and the masts were in the right place and they did

    As I already mentioned, I had not much time lately to build on my SotS, still.... a smal update.
    i did some deck planking, just to see how it looks. I finished the planks with Artesania oil.

    Time for a small update. Don't have much time at this moment to work on my SotS.
    Its nice to see how we all build our own SotS, with our own colours and modificattions

    @Sjors,  thx and no, the deck was already sanded and as you can see, on the left top of the deck the planks already sanded away. They are just 0.5mm thick.

    And here is my weekly update again.
    Planking the decks will take much more time as I thought in the first place. Though the strips are from Caldercraft, the sizes are all different . They go from 3.2mm up to 4.8mm as you can see on the picture.

    I used a dart and hammer to make little holes in the strips. After using Artesania-oil, it gives a nice (nail)effect.

    I also made some doors, we all want our privacy, do we.....
    Looking at my ship now, I am quit satisfied how it goes so far. Had to do several modifications to get it all fit and as I see it, many mods will follow. But its part of this hobby...

    @Thx edmay

    I just started with the first planking. Also the sails and the strips arrived this week, which I ordered in England. I will use 0.5x4mm strips on the decks, because those prefab planks look ugly.
    As you can see, I take my time with this build.....

    I've returned to La Couronne's ship yard and work has progressed nicely with the rigging of the spritsail topmast yard. I also finished the last crows foot and am ready to rig the spritsail yard next. That will be the last yard to go on the build! I'm fairly certain that unless something derails the plans, I am on the final push to the end of this build and am planning on staying on this one with out breaks till she is done. That means lots of updates for you all to enjoy! I still have several things to do but the end is close at hand and I am ready to reach it. Exciting times ahead! For now, here are the latest updates.

    I decided to add the scarf joint that appears on the keel plan for the full Triton build.  Was that scarf held together by bolts or treenails?  In his Cheerful build, Chuck has a vertical scarf in the keel held together with treenails.  I've already decided the futtocks will be bolted together with dark treenails representing the bolts.

    Thanks to all for stopping in, for your comments and for all the likes. Got a little more done in the last two days mainly the ship's stove is now installed complete with a stockpile of firewood and an axe. The pump was also made and installed, this is a little kit included with the package, I think it looks pretty good. It came with 3 mm copper strapping for the bands, however, I replaced that with some card stock

     Hope you enjoy, have a good evening
