Really old post I know but I found this as I was also looking for the more up to date instructions in colour with pictures. Maybe someone else will need it. Panart 740 Posti di Combattimento.pdf

I've a bit to go before I'm on to the masts but I like to jump about in the building and not do it in sequence but I'm concerned about how to taper the spars and masts. Anyone got any tips? Also are there any UK people on here that could suggest a good supplier for the items such as better rigging thread, blocks for guns, triangular deadeyes, smaller belay pins, etc? Thanks, Ciaran.

Hello everyone. I started this more than 15 years ago and it was the first wooden ship model kit I had bought (also the last to date!), however after second planking and being confounded by the kits inaccurate parts, such as the chain plates, and having no experience of ship building, I gave up. Well the internet is much better now with all sorts of info out there such as this site/forum so after stumbling upon it, I was inspired by rschisslers build log of this kit to try again to complete it. So here is my build log from now; I had taken pictures previously but that was back in the days of pin hole cameras if I unearth them I will add them in. Here is where I started from recently. And the most recent work, not much so far; hand/cap rails installed some gratings hollowed out the boat adjusted the front pointy bit to accept the goat or hind figure head (no I'm not kidding, I'll try to get the names right but I'm no nautical person!) border on stern installed Unfortunatley the hull is twisted, is there anything I can do? Anyway hopefully I'll get better pictures and more detail as I go on but it will all be inspired by Mr R Schisslers work. Cheers, Ciaran.

Hi Randy, Well after more than 15 years, thanks to this thread, I've pulled this old kit, (my 1st and last wooden ship model) back out and restarted it from where I left off, which was basically after second planking. I'm going to try to implement most of the stuff you're doing here as best I can but I've already got a twisted hull and I'm nowhere near as neat and clean as you! I'll stick up a few pictures in a seperate post, don't want to hi-jack yours. Pics here http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/13734-golden-hind-by-kihon-mamoli-scale-153-cira-1577/ So improvements would be; make doors and windows detail the guns with rigging (love those!) make the tops use or make appropriate chainplates vikings heads on the bits (class!!) better rigging thread (?) Don't think I'm up to cutting out the fife rails and you've totally lost me on the sails, would love to add them though, if you were to add more details of whats involved although just the rigging as is in the kit has me afraid A couple of questions if you don't mind. What size and type of blocks for the guns? How did you fit the balcony at stern, I'm thinking how it was you managed to bend the floor and rear wall? Any tips would be much appreciated. I notice 2 eyes above the guns in your latest photos, is this for the rope to open the port doors? Would like to see how you do those. Are there any UK people on here that could suggest a good supplier for the items such as better rigging thread, blocks for guns, triangular deadeyes, smaller belay pins, etc? Cheers, Ciaran.

I'm astounded at this, so beautiful. It has inspired me to go back to mine that I started 15 years ago. I had never and still haven't made a wooden model ship and was a bit overwhelmed at it all but with more years of life experience etc behind me now, and this post, I think I could give it a go. Please keep the posts coming. As a note I cannot understand how the chain plates supplied in the box are supposed to be used, they look nothing like the illustrations in the plans. Ciaran.
