  1. I got the bottle open and removed the old ship then I got some tools together including several pairs of tweezers, several razor knifes, several magnifiers, several needle files, two curved rods for manipulating the model inside the bottle and a wood blank for the hull. Next I will glue the bottle back together then start on the model.
  2. I will re-title when I find out which ship I am going to build. I found this cheapo ship in a bottle and am planning on making a new ship for the bottle. after I took these pictures I noticed a cut in the base of the bottle where the original builder cut the bottle open then placed the whole model inside, what should I do to hide this when I an done with the model? Note the rope covering the cut.
  3. Today I made the deck planking from the leftover wood that I ripped to plank the hull with. I will try to make the frame for the deck as soon as possible.
  4. I made another deck beam for the orlop deck bringing the total to 3 beams. I also made some temporary cross beams so I could see what it might look like when its done.
  5. I had started on a small (about 6 inches long including the rigging) victory before. I had planked half of the hull then I gave up. I could never hope that it would turn out so good even if I did complete it. Just looking at your model I would think that it was at least 1/100 scale until I see those clips on the keel. Great work.
  6. I still haven't got my computer (I an using my moms computer) hooked up to the internet yet so those are all the pictures I have right now. I will post the older pictures as soon as I get my computer on the internet.
  7. Hello this is my first post on the new forum. I had a build log for the Byzantium on the old forum. do to a recent move I have not got much work done since the old forum went down. To sum up what was lost when the old forum went down I printed out the line drawings with my dads vinyl sticker machine. I cut the formers from some scrap plywood with my bandsaw. I ripped the planks from an old fence board with my bandsaw. I glued the planks together on the formers. I fiber glassed the hull then sanded half of the hull. today I started work on the Byzantium again now both sides of the hull are sanded and the model is ready for Bondo, which is still at the other house so I wont have it until the 20th when the next load of stuff comes up from the other house. I don't have my computer hooked up to the internet yet so I only have the pictures that I took today but I will post the older pictures when I get it hooked up to the internet.
