@cog its a single and thats the trouble. Still I believe it will be manageable using a few drop planks.
Ofcourse the hull at the end is going to be coppered. Still I want the planking to be done correctly.
Thank you for commenting.

Gun ports finished. The transom is installed and am ready for the planking of the hull. The instructions of AL show a few very thin planks coming at the bow. Thats something am going to avoid so am not going to follow the instructions.

Gun ports cutting is progressing. It was important to take care that the ports were marked in the right position. The correct height from the cannon deck and ofcourse care was also given not to cut any frame.
The cannon deck planks were varnished with a satin matt varnish. The wall's inside planking of the cannon deck is going to follow as soon as all the ports have been cut.

@cog 😂 In the last two weeks I was enjoying the visit of my son and grandson (they live in the UK) and now as they left, it seems good opportunity to change mode through shipbuilding. You see model shipbuilding is an outstanding and enjoyable psychotherapy. 😀

@Dutchman how wonderful to know we have the same love!
The new version Its really a great kit. Has a good quality of materials and its not bad designed. The frame and the planking could still have been a little better designed (you can see that on the pictures above of @chris wattondesign - thats a design!)And ofcourse the luck of drawings its a minus. Now, I cant tell about the old version. But from pictures am looking to, its not bad either, though the AL people say that its not to be compared with the new one which "is definitely one of their best models ... by far"!
Wish you lots of fan with this wonderful kits. Enjoy our great hobby Dutchman... after all this is another way of sailing.... in the naval history!
Christos
Ps. The original colours of the ship are those of the new kit.The old version was wrong in this.

Bill Morrison reacted to Marvy in HMS Pandora by Marvy
Hms Pandora
Wanted to create a warship, wich has "double decks". Its already in progress, base deck has been applied, now I wondering if I should build the cabin part so you can see furnitures through windows or not... Where I am right now:

No one needs to apologize for their results. We don't hand out 'pass' or 'fail' marks! I, for one, always tip my hat to scratch-builders, especially if they have pulled off a difficult first project.
Cheers!

Hi Bill,
I think you should first identify the areas where you want to upgrade the kit.
My personal view, that side windows and boat (s) are definetely can be better if you make it by your own. For those two probably you shouldn't need the anatomy of ship book, as you have the windows (made by lead) as reference and I think boat plans can be found on net. (I also think that those gunports in kit shouldn't be used here).

I am using 'rmg.co.uk' class plans (prints) for the hull & deck, the quality for this scale is enough. Reason: this is the single source of truth, official. I also use anatomy of ship, but just as a reference and to get information about the details (mast heigh etc), but my personal experience that sometimes it isn't accurate enough, so I have to investigate in few cases. Check other models, read articles etc.

I was on Holiday, which slowed the progress down but here Iam with an update regarding the planking(s):

Like star wars it has light and dark sides, I thought doing it first on one side will be the hardest but turned out that second side just don't want to be covered. It was a nightmare... now I take a breath, will focus on upper level then correct and finish this as well.

Either you can overthink something or try to do it without thinking of possible impacts. There is no middle way. For me. At least. Bounty was easy run, here I am facing with difficulties after after mistakes and after difficulties and after... I had two options: remove everything above deck (colums) and redesign the whole upper part or deliver something which can fit to existing set up. I have picked the second one. Anyway this is where Iam now.

Bill Morrison reacted to KrzysztofB in HMS Agamemnon by KrzysztofB - Caldercraft - 1:64
Hello Everyone.
I'd like to present my current build . It is HMS Agamemnon from Caldercraft . It is my second Caldercraft kit (first was HMS Victory) and overal fifth wooden model ( USS Constitution from Constructo , San Juan Bautista a partwork kit , ORP Błyskawica and DKM Bismarck - partwork from Hachette) .
There are lots of avesome builds of this kit on Model Ship World . I was inspired by Vicnelson , Hennie ,Sjors , SaskienSoCal builds . I've been working on this kit for about one year . After I had finished first and second planking I've sanded the hull and fill gaps with Tamiya putty . Then the hull was sprayed with surfacer 1000 and afer that painted with admirality paints .
Now I've started coppering the hull

I have the old Marine Models kit of the Sea Witch. You are inspiring me to build it!

Shaping the Hull…
Used card stock to cut section templates of the hull profiles.
Carved to mid-ship using router tip and barrel sander on a rotary tool.
Cheers 🍻

Bill Morrison reacted to Bill97 in Le Soleil Royal by Bill97 - FINISHED - Heller - 1/100
Thanks Marc. I must be doing something wrong when I look at the index. Where did you get the link? When I went to the index for that ship this is what I find. I don’t see one by 72Nova.

This whole build is a treat for the eyes. Not only is the decorative work superlative, his natural wood effects are some of the best I’ve seen.

Since you are planning to actually gold leaf the ornament, I would take a look at Michael’s (72Nova) Reale build. He did such an amazing and convincing job of it.
