CDW got a reaction from mtaylor in 1972 Ford Sport Custom Truck by Knocklouder - FINISHED - Moebius Models - 1/25 scale
A man I worked with in 1972 bought a brand-new 1972 Ford 150 pickup as advertised on special sale in our local newspaper. The price was a whopping $1,995.00 at that time. It came with no extras whatsoever, no radio, no air conditioning, just a straight 6 cylinder engine with a 3-speed shift on the column. He drove that truck for 30 years, selling it in the mid-2000's. A great, trouble-free but stripped-down work truck.

CDW reacted to brunnels in B-25J Mitchell by Chadwijm6 - HK Models - 1/32
I'm definitely following along on this build. The first scale model I ever built was a Revell B25 which implanted my love for the medium bomber, and it doesn't hurt that it's one of the best looking planes of WW2 in my opinion. A couple years ago we had a B-25J "Maid in the Shade" come to our local airport, as soon as we heard it was in town my father and I had to go down and crawl around it. Here are some photo's of the B25J we got to check out.
The sound of those Wright Cyclone engines purring will put a smile on anyone's face.

Motoring along all was fine, lol. I painted the inside of the door panels a Suede color, chrome window cranks with a black button rollers.
This model shows a shift lever on the steering column. Mine was a 4 speed with a handle that ran all the way to the floor. It took seconds to slide it in to third gear. Maybe that's why it was hard on back tires lol.
So I put the cab interior together and set it aside for now.
Now this is were the fun started happening, lol . I put most of it together, jack, windshield washer fluid container put on. I even put the windows in.
That's when it happened , I had a big Neanderthal finger print on the hood and the roof of the cab. So I taped it all up and resprayed it. Ok Fine it looks great. Nope , I flip the hood on the floor, can't fix it till it's dry. So I will put it all in front of the heater for a week. Lol
Then I will repaint the hood, and put it together. That will leave the chrome and the decals, and lights.
Well the paint is going to take a week before I will handle it again.
I can't wait that long, so I am off to start a log for a Drakkar Viking boat. Soon as the paint is cured, I'll be able to continue.
Thanks for looking. Plastic is fun and quick to glue together, it's the drying time that's a killer lol.
Later Bob M.

CDW reacted to chadwijm6 in B-25J Mitchell by Chadwijm6 - HK Models - 1/32
After a few days away from the bench doing things around the house and then finishing the Sea King this morning I've finally started.
The landing gear has arrived and I'm very pleased with it. Looks robust and good quality.
I've also received some figures I ordered, civilians that will be viewing the B-25 in the museum. I got these off eBay, the seller seems to 3D print them himself and even says that they will do bespoke orders.
They look fine to me. They won't all be used in this build, I'll try to pick characters that look interested in war birds!
So, on to the build. I'm going to display one of the engines so I thought I'd start there. Here's all the parts needed for the 2 engines.
And so far I've been using some reference photos I found online to try and get the colours right.
Here's some progress so far...
No more updates for a few days as we are going to Cornwall for a bit of a break in the morning.

So having done some reading and watching a YouTube build it seems that this model needs a lot of weight to keep it from tail sitting. The instructions call for 80g, general consensus is it is closer to 200g.
And this leads to problems with the front landing gear not being able to support the weight without bending or even breaking. Later versions of the kit came with metal parts but mine had the plastic ones. And the gear is fitted before closing the fuselage so no opportunity to try it really.
Therefore I've ordered an aftermarket replacement from aerocraft models, I came across them reading a build log.

Better to be safe than sorry I think

Thanks CDW, it was your build log that initially got me into this, you’ve cost me three years and four months of my life 😂 listening to Jacqueline shouting upstairs, your supposed to be enjoying it, it’s your hobby 😂 Really clad it’s finished now though, looking forward to starting something fresh. Again thanks for your nice comments, means a lot coming from the builder that inspired me in first place, l showed your build log to Jacqueline a few times during your build and she gave me that sceptical look as if to say, you’re going to try and build that 👀 fair thought though l hadn’t completed anything in over forty years, am quite encouraged now😂 🤛
