Figured I'd fiddle with the 32' cutter from Revell's USS CONSTITUTION kit and work it up as one of those armed launches frequently tasked with picket boat duties or raiding, from the Barbary coast to the Confederate waters.
Here's one during a Mexican War adventure
Most seem to sport a lanteen rig but there's a reverse rig that suit a bow gun better.
So here's what we have to mess with
An upper and lower hull seemed to be the best way to divide the work. Crates and barrels salvaged courtesy of an RE Lee riverboat that had it's deck chopped.
I'd been thinking a sweep oar for a rudder, but the tiny boatswain probably wouldn't like that

Wasn't thrilled with the proportions of the original mast and boom, tore that out and replaced with one about 80%.
For those in need of smaller versions, see Shapeways.comhttp://www.shapeways.com/product/22SG4UU9H/ijn-coastal-freighters-quot-sea-truck-quot-1-1800

Howdy, folks. First build thread here, something I'd actually done not-so-long ago and since I'm thinking about a follow-up build in the same scale, figured I'd share.
The '15mm' notation is a wargaming size, particularly popular for WWII Pacific scenarios. As an example, see https://sfdfsfd.wordpress.com/2013/10/09/wwii-15mm-pacific-theater-of-operations-pto-invasion-07sep2013/ or scroll down to the Battle Of Wake Island 1922 http://lockupyoursheep.blogspot.com/2014/02/vapnartak-2014.html
These are the 'inner hulls' of those Robert E Lee riverboat steamer kits, each about 13" long (and easily found on ebay).
Tell me the lines don't look oddly familiar and at 15mm scale, are right about in the neighborhood of a Steel Truck. For what it's worth, I'd originally been thinking of something like this - British steel coastal freight KYLERONA (1908)
1/24th scale tractor trailer sidewalls being cannibalized.
Finally got around to the irritating task of mating the deck (1/24th scale tractor trailer siding material) to the hull, fixing the mainmast and framing out the deckhouse.

Crew figures
As one corner of the base seemed a bit deserted, I added a flight of fancy in the form of a separate small rescue drama.
That is just an island of awesome in a bed of outstandingness.

Pardon all the shadows, this was a hip-shoot pic.
Slow going of late, as I spend more time staring at references and then the parts box and then the model (rinse/lather/repeat). I might just 'cheat' with the cargo deck hatches and make some trapaulin'd "close enough" squares (remembering, the end state is for wargaming so build durability is a consideration).Logically, I knew at least one ship's boat and the davits need to be on the fantail, along with some railings. There doesn't seem to be any stacks on the 'steel trucks' (unless someone can point out what I'm missing), but there'll need to be ventilators and gangways between the decks. Probably a tarpaulin rigged on the rear of wheelhouse deck. -
Finally got around at the end of October to the irritating task of mating the deck (1/24th scale tractor trailer siding material) to the hull, fixing the mainmast and framing out the deckhouse. -
Built up from scrap laying around, probably wind up in someone's 15mm WWII Pacific Wargaming collection.Started this back in June, slowing wrapping it up.

How about the USS Repulse, 8 gun xebec originally built in 1775 for the Pennsylvania Navy and loaned to the USN in April 1777?
Failed to make the run past Philadelphia in November 1777, scuttled.
No Further Information.
