    Glued on the deck planking.i have to sand the planks level and contour them to follow the curve of the hull.

    OK I closed up the hull and will now begin to do the decking.

    Refining the shape of the hull and filling in cracks and gaps with splinters in some cases.

    Closing up the bottom and will finish the first layer of planking soon.I have a lot of work to do to make sure the planks are level and conform to the proper contours,

    OK! I continue to put the planks on and it is going ok,I will have to cut ,sand and add wood here and there to make the hull as good as I can get it.i already got my money's worth out of this kit because I never did a planked hull before but it is fun and challenging!

    I have never seen such incredible craftsmanship and skill.You must be an engineer or luthier to make such a perfect model!

    Ok I'm diving in!I secured the deck and have pinned up the first plank.I soaked the plank in hot water for 10 minutes and pinned it to the bulkheads.To prevent splitting I had to drill a pilot hole in each bulkhead.I guess i will let it dry,mark the position of the plank and apply the Titebond.Hope I am doing this right,but I'll guess i will find out!

    The deck does not fit too well so i have to clamp it up frame by frame.

    I hope I carved the stern block correctly .The instructions were a bit vague and I had to remove quite a bit of wood.

    After completing the Scientific SarkIi have decided to build a plank on bulkhead kit(My first).So far I have installed the bulkheads on the false keel and carved the bow and stern blocks.

    How long do you soak the planks and should the wood be pinned to the bulkheads,left to dry and then glued in place?

    Well,at least these figureheads have been preserved.

    Sounds similar to the figurehead of the Flying Cloud.I believe it was an angel blowing a trumpet.

    How about The chariot Of Fame or The Star of Empire?The clippers sure did have grandiose names.Makes sense as they sounded good in the papers and Merchants would rather send their cargoes on ships like The Glory of The Seas rather than the Sea Scud!
