  1. Thanks guys. I have been reading up 3 books on rigging, by charles davis, milton roth, and harold underhill. After I get a general sense, I will attack the specifics of the bounty. So far it is a nightmare to know where each line begins and where it ends, and the method of anchoring the lines at each end. But now with the support of this group, I am hopeful of a better outcome. So far, it has been an absolute pleasure carving hundreds of little pieces, not to speak of dead-eyes, blocks, and pulleys. Some examples are attached. Cheers. Bhupi

  2. I am from Brisbane, Australia, new to this Forum. Reason for joining is that about 2 years ago, I got this craze to learn about period ships and build a ship model.

I chose HMS Bounty as my first attempt, and bought the plans from Amati (sold here in Australia). All the plans are in Italian language, but there is a small translation booklet that came with it, not of much use though. The scale on the plans is 1:60, but I scaled it up to 1:30. I am building it from scratch, with not a single piece obtained ready-made. Took me two years to build the hull and the deck fittings. The masts are also done, and now I am on to sails. It has turned out to be pretty big, 1600 mm long, a nod 1400 high. A picture is attached. I keep needing a lot of help in researching various aspects, hence this Forum, where I hope to get some expert advice. Thanks for your attention. Regards all. Bhupi.
