Hi! Sorry for late response) First of all, my congratulations to you as you've bought really great kit!) There are no issues with it. Everything fits good, photo etched is presice. You should buy additional metal gun burrels for it. And of course if it's your first ship, don't be hurry with gluing all together. Make a doublecheck before, that you're able to paint that stuff without extra efforts. It's better to paint some parts separately. Good luck with it;)

Tanks a lot!🙂 Yes, the main reason to buy the box now was to avoid dust. There are so many tiny details...I will definitely brake something if I will clean her.🤷♂️

Hi to all! It's been a long time since I've done something with Alaska. Today cranes are almost finished. The only thing is left - to add cables. And with this step the assembly is more or less done. All parts will be glued together after painting. Next step - priming.
-
Guys, does anyone have good photos of USS Alaska's cranes? I want to know, how cables are placed on the crane.

Recently my friend has dropped a box with small parts of both superstructures. Some parts were broken. So now I have minus one friend 😄 Just kidding. I've spent a couple of hours by fixing the damaged parts. For now I have a small progress with the rear superstructure.

Thanks a lot! I've tried a dozen of different glues and found out that the best one for me is one of the cheapest, which is called "Premia". It's an own brand of one Ukrainian supermarket. In fact they have two CA glues. On dries faster and another is thicker and gives you more time to place the detail. I use both of them. To apply it I use a scalpel blade and a toothpick.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
