Thanks Paul, I'll check into this

Thanks for all the information, and Jaager you are correct, I'm a newbie at this hobby. I'm currently building the Bluenose II hobby kit from Artesania Latina. Some of the pieces I'm trying to cut are a little larger in size, 3 to 5mm and I'm finding it hard to get a clean cut with a scalpel. I thought that you more experienced folks might have some form of mini saws that I should have in my tool collection. Sorry if I seem a little naïve but as I say I am a newbie. Thanks for all the comments. B

I'm looking to purchase a set of mini wood saws to help me in the construction of my wooden model ship. Can anyone suggest a good set?

Paul the railing on the aft deck has a cut away which instructions say is 59mm long. Does the cut away face inwards or outwards? Instructions don't really show it.

Question for you. When you cut the sanctions that fit on the sides what did you use to cut them?

I've been building the Bluenose II and found the best way forward is to read instructions a bit ahead of where you are currently, that way you can decide on what tools or supplies you need and get them before you need them. I find a lot of what I need on Amazon. If you buy only what you think you'll need next you won't waste money on stuff you don't use. Just a thought.

New to this site and not sure if this is how to start a build log. If I'm doing something wrong please advise me for future postings. Below are pictures of my progress so far. Slow but sure as I have never built a wooden model before. I do have a question regarding the bow. Do I file the front supports down to the shape of the ship or are they needed in future? Pic's in instructions doesn't show what to do.

Thanks to everyone for your responses to my airbrush questions. Very helpful indeed.

I’ve just started building my first wooden model the Bluenose II. I think it would look more professional if I were to paint parts with an airbrush. Having never used an airbrush I’m wondering which is the best one to buy?
