  1. Finished the second layer of planking I did not taper any at the stern Once sanded I used Tamiya 2 part polyester putty ( Works well on wood ) on the seams ect The Wales were then fitted carefully following the laser cut line on the bottom of the Bulwarks. Rudder post installed Things will start taking shape at a nice pace from now on Fun build looks very accurate from all angles too which is very good Cheers Lee
  2. 100% do it again you will be happy you did as its one of the first parts you look at on a ship and the masts and bowsprit look great.
  3. Nicely done it's always a good milestone getting the first planking out the way also good idea using a piece of wood as a temporary rabbet I will try that.
  4. What a sight I don't think there is anything more beautiful than a ship of the line with full mast's and rigging
  5. I just ordered this kit for my next build so watching with interest and you have made a great start.
  6. I do like the CA method though especially with the shorter length's I must try Titebond Just ordered Vanguards HMS Speedy might try Titebond when planking that hull
  7. Just a little update on the second layer of hull planking I started off by using single full length planks but my thick CA was drying before I could get them to lay down the way I wanted so another approach was to make the planks a close to scale length which made the job a lot easier to manage each plank laying down and conform to the hull shape so far it's working well for me and I like the look. Back soon when done. Lee
  8. First layer of planking complete and faired ready for the second layer. I used tamiya tape to get the width's of the last plank Trying out my new Japanese mini Plane to remove the scorch marks from the keel I might leave this face unpainted The outer bulwark layer was dry clamped to the roll of tape and left for a couple of days The outer Bulwark layer was glued with dabbing on small dots straight from the bottle and the fit looks to be very good. Thank you Lee
  9. Very nice tidy job Isaiah i just got mine to this stage today time for round 2 of the planks haha.
