Hello Kevin...
Yes, it's taken you seven years to get to where you are at. I have known you for all of those years and I do know that you have built a beautiful model. Don't sell yourself short. I have compared your Victory to mine and yours runs rings around the model I've built. And a lot of people will see it and admire the work you've done. I look forward to seeing your completed ship and to enjoy your work.

Hello Kevin:
I just want to add my congratulations, not only for the fact that you came back to finish your build, but for the fantastic job you have done. It was about six years ago when I was a young man of 80 when I started my Victory and had the pleasure to consult with you often as we both (along with David, Shipyard Sid) were working hard on our respective builds. My Victory has been sailing along, doing fine I might add, in its display case and has survived two long distance moves of about 1000 miles. I look forward to whatever you do next and want you to know it's been good to have you as a friend,
Best,
Jerry

Hello Kevin,
It looks like the log entry "misfired." For some reason a previous entry of mine repeated itself for which I apologize. Don't know why it happened. Anyhow, just wanted to say hello and mention that I always pin my spars to the mast; much easier that way.
Your work is bringing back much memories and it seems like only yesterday that we were working at the same time on HMSV along with David, Shipyard Sid. I miss those times and I also miss David. Please say hello to him for me.
Best,
Jerry

It's good to see you doing your "thing," Kevin, especially that your work looks so good. I'm enjoying your log. To Old Collingwood....The HMS Victory has 4 anchors, two on each side. (At least mine does.}

When I opened the first manual ( there are three) of HMS Victory, I saw Admiral Nelson's prayer which was right there on the very first page. On the same day that Nelson was said to have uttered this prayer, he was fatally wounded by a musket shot from the French Ship Redoubtable. My immediate reaction was "Oh my God!", what have I gotten myself into. Since I already spent about $1200 for the kit and had parts of it strewn all over the floor of my office, I figured it was too late to change my mind.
About 12 years ago I built my first and only ship model, Cuttysark, and when I finally placed the Union Jack on Cuttysark's rear stay, I know for sure that I said, "I'll have to have a screw loose to do this again." But when one is lucky enough to reach my age most sports are taboo, television sucks, there is no job to go to and even the grandkids are off on their own; I needed something to do; so, on February 22nd of this year, I began my build and what follows is a record by pictures and date, of what has been done so far. However, before I go further I'd like to give a shout to Dave (Shipyard Sid) and Kevin for their encouragement to do this and for their kindness and patience with my rookie endeavors. Also a big thank you to Derek S. for letting me use his log as if it were my own.

Hello Mark,
Thank you for leading us to your build log. You have a yeoman task (no pun intended) and I don't envy you. Your task is so much harder than building the model from a new kit with all new and fresh parts. I wish you the best and will enjoy following your progress. By the way, David (Shipyard Sid) probably forgot that he visited your log years ago when you first started your project. Now that you have supplied the link, I believe you'll hear from him whenever it's necessary; he's very knowledgeable and helpful. He certainly was to me.
Best,
Jerry
