Hi Popeye,
Sorry to hear about your run with bad luck as of late, but as Mark says, when it rains, it pours, so hopefully, it's now good luck's turn to pour in
I think the beautiful rigging work you've done will inspire lady luck to smile upon you very soon my friend, top-notch job as always

Thanks shipmates, now there are 2 at the 'windbag table'. And Grant perceptively picked up on why I've been quiet lately .
I urge Popeye to proceed post haste (pun intended) to join the party

Clare,
I'll bet those were "double-pinned" guns judging from the tracks. With he pin was in the rear of the gun it rotated to face the stern, track "A" could be used. Pull it, rotate it, re-pin from the front and either "B" or "C" could be used. This would apply to the forward gun also.
Google "pivot guns". You'll have sort through some junk to find the good stuff... but there was this type and also a "center-pinned" gun that rotated about it's center. The bigger guns seemed to be of the double type, the smaller were center-type. I marked what looks to be the pivot pin recievers (holes) "1", "2", and "3". They weren't a hole but a bushing like shape set into the deck and the beam under it.

Back in a day or 3 John. Already screwed up the first set of anchor stocks. I need a mental reset. Also, one of my float planes almost sunk taxiing back to the beach yesterday......I might need to double plank her with boxwood and holly

Mobbsie,
I'm of the "you're the Captain, it's your ship" group. If all else fails, ask the Admiral. They like being asked about "decorating" issues.

Hi Popeye, glad you like it. Thanks. Yes, I will not be doing any rigging on the road. I will be making many deck houses, whaleboats, masts and yards, etc., but will not be attaching anything like that with the exception of the hatches and deck houses to the ship. I'll be ready to assemble the masts once I get back here in Jan or Feb. As for the paint, the bulwarks are yellow ochre and the outside hull is black, white and of course I will do the coppering on the road. Lots to do before rigging time.

I like the treatment you gave the bulkheads, no need for paint there at all... I would, however, paint the pillars... One thing you may want to try is to start off with a yellow ochre base and then use various acrylic washes to get them to look like the same colour as the bulkhead. Either that or just leave them yellow ochre for contrast. Your choice.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the warm welcome back, Hols were just what was ordered even the sheep wrangling, if that what you call waving your arms about like a demented thing from another planet, had fun though.
Head rails are completed apart from the finer points, I still have the catch netting to put on and thunderheads plus a few other bits.
Upper deck is glued in place but I still have the planking to do as well as the bulwarks.
I have done the Poop deck screen bulkhead and dry fitted it, I have left the pillars unpainted and just put some tung oil onto the wood, I would be interested to know what you think about the pillars, they should be painted I know, but good or bad please let me know what you think. Same goes for the balcony bulkhead, the pillars are on but not painted.
Here are a few pics, not many and the quality is not brilliant.
Catch net will be placed around the port and starboard wires
Poop deck bulkhead with unpainted pillars
Balcony bulkhead with the pillars fitted but unpainted
So, as I said not too many pics but I hope you enjoy them.

Hi Popeye,
Boy are you having a run of bad luck, hang in there mate it wont last long.
Here's a little diddy of an Irishman's Philosophy:-
There are only two things to worry about
Either you are well or you are sick,
If you are well then there' nothing to worry about,
If you are sick, there are only two things to worry about,
Either you will get well or you will die,
If you get well there's nothing to worry about,
If you die, there are only two things to worry about,
Either you will go to heaven or hell,
If you go to heaven there's nothing to worry about,
But if you go to hell, you'll be so damn busy shaking hands with all your friends you wont have time to worry.
Keep your pecker up mate.

well........I've managed to repair some of the damage that Murph has done. the Toyota is as good as new..........nothing a length of pipe and a saws-all couldn't fix the smoke is clearing, but now I seem to be having a bit of a problem with my left ear........plugged up.......can't hardly hear out of it.....WHAT?
I have done a little on the Goth......tying on blocks to the fore mast and starting to get the spirit yards in order. here is a picture also of the 3.5 eyelets.......or mini hearts.
the smaller double blocks under the top are home made.

sorry Mark..........Murphy isn't done with me yet......I took the Toyota Corolla to work today. I had to stop mid-trip home....the exhaust decided to drop out and I had to do something to keep it from dragging on the road. good thing I left the bungie cords in the trunk
I'm smiling.........
not to worry though Mark.........when I can get to the table......nothing will bother me......the Goth will continue!

that sounds like the joke about the drunk who stood in front of the judge. he was told that he was a habitual drinker.........the drunk told the judge that he pleded insanity.........said he was crazy about the stuff!
I had the same problem with my keyboard.......but I think my problems stem from what I do OVER it the admiral got me a new one....I think she got tired of seeing me bang it on the sliding shelf it sits on. crumbs........bits of planking.......cookie crumbs....{oh, yea, I said crumbs already.........that's pretty general}. then I had the turbo mouse.........could jump two screens with a single click! really stinks when I want to stop and look at something. with the words of Gomez Adams........I'm much better now!
I want to thank all of you kind folks!.......you make me smile. I saw all of your comments this morning, before I shoved off to work, where bad luck #3 was waiting for me. nothing too spectacular......just forgot to set the parking brake in the shop truck, and it rolled across the yard and into a parked trailer. no damage to speak of.......except for my 8 year record of no goof-ups. I see a few new folks have joined in.......glad to have you looking in. this is my first wood ship of this type......I"M even hopeing it comes out good
so far, it just been about the bow and making up some of the parts for it.........I'm not tabling this build again.....if I need something, I'm going to make it. period! the 5 mm hearts came out good........and as mentioned, I now have some 3.5 mm hearts {or eyelets, if that's what they're called}. they will do the trick for the bow fore stays. another update is in the works to be sure........I hope to have it for you soon. thanks again for your good words... I really appreciate it......
