Hi David You do like giving me a bad time about those linnings. I never did intend to install them it was just an idea on how to make them. I deleted the picture incase someone else gets the wrong idea. I started gluing the patterns on today (will post pictures later) and yes I did glue on shelving first. Good idea. I appreciate you following my log and your comments are welcome. Well most comments "what linngs did you say!!!!". Cheers Eric

Hi Kevin, I appreciate you following my build. From what I can see on your log your gunport lined up nicely like in the manual. I think I will have to do what David and the others have suggested and just cut out part of bulkhead 17. I hope that this does not foul me up at a later stage of the build. I can see that the stern is going to be a real challenge. Eric

Hi Derek, I am just starting my build of the Victory and a little envious of how far along you and some of the other chaps are on your builds. I hope mine looks as well as yours one day. I really appreciate your pictures of the early stages of your build. According to one of your pictures you had a bit of a similar issue that I am having now. It is: I am trying to line up patterns 270 and 272 against the stern. On page 5 of the manual (photo 006) it shows the smooth run of the templates between 270, 272 against stern extension 106. If I try to line all these up I find that part of bulkhead 17 shows in the last gun port of 272. If I slide 272 ahead to cover the bulkhead then of course the patterns don’t line up. I will put a picture on my build log. Do you remember is this an issue and if it was how did you resolve it. Thanks for any help you can offer. I have also asked David for his opnion but he has not had a chance to get back to me. Eric. C

Hi David I have a small problem. I think I know what the answer is but I would llike your opinion if you would be so kind to give it. I am trying to line up patterns 270 and 272 against the stern. On page 5 of the manual (photo 006) it shows the smooth run of the templates between 270; 272 against stern extension 106.If I try to line all these up I find that part of bulkhead 17 shows in the last gun port of 272. If I slide 272 ahead to cover the bulkhead then of course the patterns don't line up. I will put a picture on my build log. Thanks Eric

Still working on hull construction. Made the cut outs on the dummy barrel strips, painted the gun ports black and finnished adding the bow pieces. I also added backing for pattern #271 onto bulkhead #17 for additional support. Not sure how I am going to display the model so I added blocking to the keel incase I drill holes.

Hi DAVID, Thanks for looking at my build log. Actually I was planning on contacting you. I have been admiring your Victory and Wow it looks pretty nice. I know that I am way behind you in building but if you can offer any suggestions or forewarn me about any pitfalls as I precede it would be much appreciated. I am going to start the gunport patterns tomorrow and I can see trying to get them lined up and the 1mm deck spacing above deck 446 will be a challenge. About the gun port linings; no I am not going to install them yet. I was just working ahead waiting for glue on the hull to dry. Although I see people have added shelving so that the linings don’t fall through so I might add that now. In the future I will answer your comments on my log. Cheers, Eric

Hull construction continues; attached stern pieces, inserted dummy gun strips and started work on the bow. My attempt at making a gunport linning jig. I deleted the picture of my gunport linning jig for I did not want fellow builders to think I am linning the gunports at this time. It was just an idea on how to make a jig to make the linnings.

Hi Kevin, not sure if you are following my build but thanks for the picture advice. I think I have it figured out but what size did you resize the pictures too. I know you are a long way ahead, very nice build I might add, would you mind if I have you as a resource for I think I am a little over my head. Cheers, Eric. C

Thanks everyone for your kind replies. I have herad from Rick Shousha that my missing parts are on the way. I am still reviewing the manual but when I start building I will have to figure out how to load up pictures. Actually, can anybody tell me how to attach the pictures? Hopefully by next week I will have my build started with pictures.

I have never been on a forum or done anything like this before so please bear with me. About 40 years ago I built the Sergal Victory (50In.) and unfortunately I no longer have it. I was over in England this spring and went to see the Victory. I was so impressed that I decided I would like to build it again. So I researched kits and reviewed several builds on MSW and decied to go with the Jotika kit. I ordered the kit through Rick Shousha and received it on Friday Oct.11,2013. I spent the day checking all the parts against the parts manual and became upset and frustrated with the kit and almost wanting to send it back. The kit was missing the registration form so I have no number to register it (in order to get updates); was missing a walnut sheet of parts (minor in itself for it can be obtained) but more important the kit was missing all eight sheets of brass parts. A couple of walnut strips are broken and not sure about all the bits and bobs in the small cardboard box. I have been in contact with Rick Shousha and he assures me that all will be corrected. Rick has been very patient with fielding all my emails this weekend. As my mood improved I started to cut out and fit parts and have come to realize that this is going to be - for lack of a better term - an interesting build. I am hoping that some more experienced Victory builders read this for I am open to all suggestions, tips, tricks and/or comments. Still trying to figure out what "Topic Tags" are and how to post pictures.
