I have now found out that the LEDs are only 1.7volts so no wonder they burnt out as we put 3 volts through them . Trouble is on the website of the company it says 3 volt not happy

Thanks for the likes guys .Disaster has struck the Triny
My son and I wired up the lights in the hold and Orlop deck . They looked great for about 20 seconds then pop they all burnt out I haven't a clue how it happened as they were wired up with resisters and a 3 volt battery pack. My problem is going to be changeing the one in the hold as the Orlop deck is glued down. Lots of head scratching to come

Hi all a bit more work done on the Triny
I have made the lantern by using some tube from a paint brush and some plastic card. The card was stamped out with a leather punch and glued to the top of the tube a small hole was drilled to get the led inside a small circle of plastic was glued to the bottom. A small piece of plastic strip was glued to the sides. The lantern was painted with gunbolt silver and fitted to the beam . Next job the orlop deck . This was planked and glued to the beams the sides were planked as per instructions. To add a bit more interest I decided to make the surgeons office so once the side walls were built I made a roll top desk and chair with a few bottles of potions. Next job on the list more lanterns for this deck
See you soon

A bit more fiddling about with the Trinny X section. I want the hold to look cluttered and a bit used so have built a rack for some wood and made a couple of buckets. The barrels have been painted and aged but there are only two of them so have ordered some more. I didn't use the supplied ballast but got some from my local model shop which looks much more to scale. Next job on the list making the lanterns.

Wow super job on the lantern . I hadn't thought of using tape brilliant idea. Number one son is up this weekend and he is a wizard at electrickry unlike me so he can show me how to wire up the leds

You are most welcome Michael the popcorn is on the right looking at mine it only has two ribs instead of three like yours no real problem but a bit strange. I am now trying to work out where the wires are going to go for the lights 😎 as I am useless at electrickry

Hi all now I have finished my build of the Soleil Royal I thought I would start this one. The X section comes with the kit of the whole ship which is quite cool but I will start that one probably in the winter. I have made a start on building the ribs by putting them on the kell as you can see I have been building it outside because of the lovely weather we are having at the moment. Once dry the inner planks have been glued into place and the mast foot fitted . I decided to plank over the mast foot as staining it didn't look right. Next job making the lumber board and strake which was a lot more fiddley than I was anticipating but turned out ok . Hopefully tomorrow I will start filling up the area with bits and bobs

This is going to be the last update on the SR as she is now complete.
This has been a pleasure to build and I really like the way she has turned out. All the sails have now been finished and I am pleased with the result as this is the first time I have tried furled sails and it shows the deck of well . The crew have been placed on the decks and rope coils on the belay pins and knightsheads.
Thanks again for the brilliant comments and the likes. See you next time with my next build .

Hi Michael I plan not to use wires but copper tape so I can hide them under the deck and between the beams. I have been looking for dolls house lanterns but haven't found any the right size yet but will let you know if I do

Cheers for posting the link for the ballast rocks as the ones in my kit are rubbish. As my SR is slowly getting to the end I have been buying some bits and pieces for the cross section and have managed to get some 1-8mm flicking LEDs and was wondering how to make the lanterns as I want to have the interior looking like it's the night before battle with bench,s and hammock,s and the guns run in .
looking forward to your next update m8

A bit more done on the SR . The ratlines have all been completed yippee and have now started on the yards of the foremast.
I have decided to have them with furled sails and dropped upper yards. The first yard was made as per instructions and the sail cut down to one third it's size to get rid of the bulk as the material was quite thick. I then rolled it up and tied to the yard and teased into shape. I have never tried this before and am quite happy with the result. Next job the rest of the yards.

Cheers for looking in Michael and the brilliant comments
A bit more done on the SR . To break up the ratlines I have made up some of the upper masts and fitted some of the braces fore and aft as I needed a break from tying nearly 3000 half hitch,s and still quite a few to go.
Thanks for following I am off to do some more ratlines
