Bruno Siljeg reacted to Mfelinger in Trabakul by Mfelinger - FINISHED - 1:30 - Adriatic Sea traditional sailing ship
Trabakul is one of my first works.
I have a few pictures of building models and want to share them with you.

Trabakul is the name for a traditional sailing ship on the east coast Adriatic sea with two masts. It is a cargo sailing ship.
Trabakul are in use from the 18th to the early 20th century. and later when the sails are being replaced with the engine. Smaller trabakuls long as 14-20 meters capacity of 40-100 tons and larger 30 meters and capacity of 60-200 tons.

These are old pictures of Trabakul  from Croatian Adriatic islands and coastal cities:

    Hi Bruno,

I am not sure if I understand your question. .. but I will try to answer.

Mile did finish a second Jadran (marine school ship of former Yugoslavia) in the meantime. He worked last 1.5 years on it and that is why Royal Caroline has a relatively slow progress. Otherwise, Mile is extremely fast... I always get frustrated how slow I am, when I see his progress  :-)
... but maybe we post some photos of Jadran into the forum.

The next, we are looking for the plans of the Royal James 1671 – not easy to find these plans at all. Mile is going to do the Royal James after the Royal Caroline, in a bigger scale – probably 1:48 – and he will do it as an admiralty model. This will be something to report!!!   … a huge model with extreme precision and impression of reality which I am used to see when Mile is doing things. I am looking forward a lot to this project.

Thank you very much Michael and Ferit   I have lots planed for the machine and half of it is using the dividing table. You  are quite correct Ferit, whilst I can do everything by hand,if I wish to complete the build in a reasonable time frame,I need some more tools.I can officially say that everything else that goes on this build will be scratchbuilt. So the only kit parts left are about 80mm of the bottom of the bulkheads.I shall however by buying the cannons and rigging blocks.
    Kind Regards Nigel

As I mentioned earlier, these next few stages are really slow.I have fitted the deck beam shelves and planked the inside of the hull on the starboard side, including lining the gunports. The framework of the entry port is in place, but this will have the carvings added at a later date, probably when I fit the channels as they sit on the middle channel.I had to reverse engineer the gunports to ascertain the deck levels which involved a great deal of headscratching, but it did 'prove' my gunports were correct. The internal planking has had several coats of poly applied in preparation for treenailing.I am using Dafi's(thank you Dafi) idea for drilling the holes inside.I have glued a drill into the end of a bamboo skewer so I can poke it through the gunports to drill the holes on the opposite internal face.I have given it a try and it works great, but it ain't no Dremel so I may be at it some time
    Kind Regards Nigel

    Nigel,

Hmmmmm very unfortunate update regarding the Maritime Museum. I remember admiring soooo many beautiful model ships, many of which, of course, were period builds. Whomever are responsible for those decisions should walk the plank.
I will then just remember the wonderful memories of that visit. I imagine that these silly things still take up museum space, see pic (:-)

    Regards,

    Ciao Bruno

There are a few that I found on the NMM website in the collections section using "24 gun" as the search term.  I did not see any of the Pandora.  Then again, maybe Pandora was not the same as the others regarding the rabbet.   No matter, your model is looking extremely good!
