Maybe try to export the object as a .Obj file and load it to the slicer. BTW, what slicer program are you using? So far I found LycheeSlicer to be the best free program. It does a good job finding islands and faults in the model. I printed my Bounty cannons straight up with the muzzel against the print plate. Though I modelled the cannons in Cinema4d.

    Edit:
Also there is a BIG difference in resin quality... went through some brands before I found one that works ok with smaller items...

Edit again; I'm printing in resin,,,

I find myself more and more often considering stopping posting on Model Ship World.  A few weeks ago I encourage a member to continue despite some pretty negative comments by another user.  The offending post has been removed, but not after I think it was actually "liked" by one of the moderators.  Yesterday I think less that constructive language was used to describe the Occre HMS Victory model kit.  This kit isn't for everyone, it is fair to point out historically inaccuracies, or to challenge whether it is truly a plank on frame model or some thing else.  As we have recently heard from Chuck, a true plank on frame kit can be very expensive.  If this is a something that gives someone a "taste" of plank on frame at a lower cost than full on plank on frame, maybe that is ok and maybe someone will be inspired to do a full plank on frame model after building this kit.   And if some of us are not able or interested in investing the time and sometimes money to do extensive research on a particular ship, that should be OK.  Please keep helping those that what more information about the ships they are building, but no need to mock those that are simply building a kit to impress their friends and neighbors.

45,000 members, but how many have a build log in the last year or two.  I am not sure I would give the same advice I gave a few weeks ago about continuing to post on the site if I was giving the advice today.

    Hello all

I've been doing some odds and ends on the Bohuslän.

Oak stain on the front deck:

Aft wall of cafeteria did not fit so good. It may be me having trouble getting the planks to lay flush to the frames aft.
Filler, sanding and paint plus the sofas will hide this mess I hope.

The lip of the windows where marked with the lasercutter. They would disappear when painted so I cut some silver wire and made a rather simple ornament.

I tried doing the curly bit on the ends but it was impossible (for me) to get them all identical so I went for the simple variation.

First of many, many, many coats of paint.

No portholes included so I ordered from CMB.

    Companionway and "lifebelt boxes"

    Kind if weathered look.

The plywood is very bristle and breaks all the time.

Well, I'll be doing some rigging again on my other builds for a while so the next update will not be too soon.

Since burnside63 told me about others having this kit without the mismatch pieces I contacted Turkmodel. Mr. Selvi answered quickly and confirmed that they had some adjustment issues on the first batch of this kit. They are sending me replacement parts ASAP. So I'm back on track again. But now I have four builds going simultaneously

Thank you burnside63 for kick-starting me on this one.

    Planking of cafeteria:

The original floor is darker but I only varnished the planks so there will be some contrast against the tables and chairs.

    And here is some tables:

The ply for the tables and chairs is 0.5 mm and extremely bristle. brushing the ply with sanding sealer gave it enough strength for assembling.

    On to glue 30 chairs....

    hello Uwe,
Wish I had a building cradle like that when I assembled the frames. It would have made life easier....

I don't know how hard it would be to handle 1 metre long planks, but what I would have done is this:

The white is how the planks meet now. The bluish is the preferred way of doing it. Letting the planks meet overlapped.
I imagine the planks would be more manageable.

I have not had the time to update the log lately, but here's some progress:

    bottom finished.

    Nice warped roof there.

Warping fixed with the vertical bits of Pianowire.

    The bridge.

    Bridge with LED's

Funnel. The metal sheet supplied was a very thin piece. Impossible (for me) not to buckle it.
Did my own extra pipes as none was supplied in the kit.

This build will be suspended until late autumn as I have other ships to build now that the weather is warmer. Sanding must be done outside. I'll try to up a log of the Pinco Genovese later.

The saga of lost proportions continues.

    Stairs

Started the railing. The "Guardrail vertical parts" as the parts list state them, are made of really soft white metal. the wire is extremely hard. probarbly the best quality of the whole mess. Impossible to cut with pliers smaller than medium.

Guardrail primed. Stairs totally out of proportions.

    Roof attached, LED's working..

The LED's shine through the roof plywood so I'll use sandpaper (grit 800) to simulate tarred paper that the original has.

Hull bottom first stroke of paint.

Thanks Burnside. There's still a lot of frustration concerning scale and accuracy. I've decided to try and not think about it and just go on building.

     Lightning for second deck:

I suck at soldering but the wire is secured and glued to the wood. It isn't going anywhere...

    Done at last

Building the benches in aft of second deck:

Lots of strips (1x1mm) to fit.

Staining. I apply the stain with a brush to give it a little weathering effect.

Next is varnish and then do the rest of the benches along the cabin walls.

    Oh, and happy Easter!

Just realized I have not thanked you for the comments. Stockholm tar, Nils, Nirvana, Uwe, Burnside63 and Clare: Thank you for visiting and commenting my log. And tanks to the others for the likes.

Stockholm tar, no rivets. So many details are missing and/or wrong on this kit so I won't bother with them.

Furniture in rear cabin. (Smoking room)

    Mid cabin.

Size and proportions are all wrong, quite irritating.
Manual is also wrong here. The benches to the right should not be here but in the foremost cabin.
Will see if the CA-debonder can fix the problem...

    Small update:

    new piece from Turkey

Door openings still too small. Turkmodel: "Doors not meant to be functional. Glue them to wall."

    Fitting the upper cabinswalls.

The walls have a strong curve upwards at the aft that the deck, or anything else has, have to fill up with strips.

Painting and fitting some other stuff

Started attaching the roof. Does not fit at aft. Have to do some thinking on how to fix that.

Testing lightning. The windows are dim since the protective film is still on.

Got this kit in November last year with the optional LED lighting set.
Needed a break from rigging R.C. and was as usual just dry fitting the frames and the next I knew I was building the damn thing...

Whats in the box can be seen here in James H's review.

There was a nice surprise in my box. Thank you Artesania Latina!!!

I didn't take any pictures of assembling the frames, decks or the stand.

The stand with the light works very well, even in daylight:

    Backside of the name plate:

Yesterday I got started on the bulwarks.

And this black monster helps me with getting hairs just about everywhere on the ship...

Mid deck planking underway. I cut and sand the planks individually, it takes some time but the results are good:

Deck sanded and varnished and inner bulwarks done:

    Forecastle started:

0.5 mm thick strips. Super quality but if I have too much glue on them they tend to curl:

Forecastle bulwarks. I don't know what material this is. Bamboo maybe but they are extremely easy to bend.

    Forecastle and bulwarks ready (almost)

    Poop deck underway:

And this is as far as I got today...

I'm quite satisfied with the kit so far. Nice materials and a detailed manual without one written word.
The only thing I'm not happy with are the laser cut blocks:

Sanding the char and then drill a hole on 288 tiny blocks is NOT what I want to waste my time on...

I was thinking of ordering the Hermione from A.L. at the end of the month, but I have to look up what kind of blocks there is in that kit first.

Sorry for the delay, but I'm doing 4 different builds...
    I have begun the planking...

A nice mess on the kitchen table, first two planks:

While the planks was drying after bending them I did the skylight:

As planking is boring to do and watch next update will probably take a while.
But I'll be back when something interesting happens.

No wooden kit is easy, but the difficulty can be mitigated, but never erased completely. All we can do is give the modeller the best chance possible to build and end up with something they can be proud of, and most of all, enjoy the experience.

The decks for this model are split into multiple pieces of plywood that get fitted in-between the sides of the bulkheads after decking planks have been added.  Following the directions leaves the first deck with unsightly lines across the deck and down the middle of the fore and aft sections that just don't look right.  to correct that, first I joined the two pieces each of the fore and aft decks to plank as one unit.  It's a tight fit to install as one piece, but it works.  Second, I used tape on the bottom of the decks to align the full deck, so that I could plank continuously along the length to cover the seams.  where the decking plank overlapped onto the next section, I did not apply glue and will wait to secure until all the deck is installed on the ship.

After installing the decks I glued down the loose ends of the planks.  Lesson learned...CA soaks in and seals the wood!  No amount of sanding will clean it up to allow stain to penetrate, so I ended up with plain wood spots on the deck.  I tried staining with a furniture touchup pen as well as using paint to blend in the spots.  It doesn't look horrible and I would not expect pristine decks on a ghost pirate ship, but will apply that learning on the upper decks.

In between decks, the plan calls for the ladders to be built.  This was a tedious task, but I'm happy with the result.  I felt like the ladder sides were much too wide, so after I had them all built, I used the disc sander to thin them down for a more scale look.

I followed a similar plan for the remainder of the decks, working to hide the seam and dress things up where I could.  I added the framing to the hatches, even on the potions of the decking that will never be seen.  I wanted the practice and I know they are there even if no-one else will see them.

Work on the cabin walls and doors is next.
