Thanks Elmer Cornish and everyone else!

Here are some of the latest photos. The first few show the hull with the deck template and the side of the hull being prepared for opening up, so that the internal accommodation can be eventually viewed. The rest of the photos show the hull after the frames have been cutaway. Luckily the hull is structurally strong enough to withstand the hull's side being cut open in such a way. Not for the faint hearted, because, once it's cut, there's no turning back!

    Anyhow, enjoy the photos.

    Cheers

Hi all. Some more photos as progress continues The first few show the hull with the deck template over the hull. This is important because it gives me a good idea of where the internal bulkheads for the cabins, etc will lie.

The next few photos show the hull after I "painted" it with a black permanent marker. The reason I did this was so that the high spots and hollows can be easily identified as the hull is fine- sanded. I've also started to plot the correct shape and position (although not shown in the photos) of the internal deck(or floor). Getting this correct, is of course, fundamental, because it determines the height of the accommodation bulkheads, etc.

    Hope you enjoy the photos.

Still hectic at my job but I've done some work on the model.

The main mast is now mounted and I also made two more tops. The details on the smaleest one is much reworked to fit and get more in scale. I also noticecd the problem Karl mentioned in his Vasa thread about the squared hole being to small so I widened it a little and will also rework the mizzen mast a little to make it work.

    pete48 got a reaction from Timothy Wood in Herreshoff Buzzards Bay 14' by pete48 - FINISHED - 3/4" = 1' - SMALL
Today I started by lowering the camber on the rear cockpit bulkhead , I then realized that the Transom knee needed to be cut down to allow for the rear deck . On the forward cockpit bulkhead , I cut out the frame brace to match the deck camber of the birch ply . I then installed the bulkheads and layed out the cockpit seats ( another one of those trickier than I thought situations ) I then cut out 4 seat braces for aft of the cockpit and 2 larger ones for the bow. This is because the deck angle change's sharpley for the cockpit coaming . I then turned my attention to the Keel . I filled in the bottom of the keel with wood ( this normaly would be the Lead part of the keel ) I then faired it in with the rest of the Boat.  Here are the results

Hi Michael, I looked at Tonis build ( for the louvers ) I am going to try that out . it looks fairly simple . I think your right, that kind of system might work. I to this day would still love to have a full sized one, They are so nice to sail, ( I sailed a 12 1/2 a few times, I did not want it to end ) and they are very easy on the eye's

Hi Richard, Thank you, she is comming together nicely, I am also building the original 12 1/2 ( Cap't Nates ) as a proto-type the link is in my signature.

Hi Nils, Thank you for the kind words, I like the Herreshoff Designs ( deffinatly a dreamboat ) They are Amazing boats to sail as well

This afternoon I finished cutting all the frames , I re lofted the Transom and changed it out so that it will line up better with the Cockpit Coaming. To this Point nothing has been glued, and the new Transom is being held on with masking tape, I still have to true up all the frames and finish sanding the new frames. Here are the results

Next I cut out a piece of 1/32" birch plywood to emclose the forward section of the cockpit. ( it has not been glued in so that I can still add details )  ) I cut for the deck camber and will add filler piece betwwen the ply and the mast step brace. ( this should make the mast section very solid ) I then cut out the rear cockpit bulkhead with the deck camber cut in as well ( it has not been glued ) Next will be to get the rear deck section framed in, and to frame in for the bench seats. Here are the results

Today, I started on the Mast step ( wich was more complicated than I had first thought ) Fortunatly I had the Keel height correct ( per the plans ) I started by making a 6" length of mast ( at the correct specs ) Then I cut out  some 1/32" Birch ply strips, that would fit between the stations and run from top to bottom of the Keel. ( only for the mast step station ) I then cut out 3/32" material, and cut those pieces to run to the top of the frame. I then put the mast section ( that I had made )and cut out the piece to fit in the slot as per the plans. I then made the upper brace, installed the  1" ( scale ) block to the top of the frame ( toward the bow ) This will give me the correct mast angle.  I then installed the side pieces and the supports that run down the frame. I added the triangles for more support, they are not on the plans . ( I just felt they should be there to beef up that section ) The center piece of the mast step has not been glued in, I will wait at this point till I make the mast ( hopfully Sitka Spruce ) this will allow me some wiggle room when it comes time to fit the mast . Here are the results

Next I will be concentrating on the cockpit,  the Mast step and supports . The plans show the benches and forward bulkhead as being open.  I will make them closed as well as adding the door. Does anyone know of a trick to make the louvers ? here are some pics of what I am going for

I think this Version for the swivelgun handles will do...

I am using the 15 mm Long gunbarrels from RB Models web-shop with a little updating. The Pivot boring is predrilled by RB already, with 0,5mm boring in about 1 mm depth only (not through), and the Little hole at the barrel-end is made with aid of a small gig, the handle is soldered in 0,8mm brass wire and a small metal bead is slipped onto the wire and AC glued at the end

Pete thanks for the answer, the pictures of the full size ones are making me drool all over the keyboard' regarding the louvres if you look at some of the shots of the lockers on Toni's build perhaps that will help sort them out they are 1:48 and yours are 3 times larger scale but smaller louvres so the same system might work.

Today I started by Building a cradle , while I pre soaked the material to finish the planking. Once the cradle was built I finished up the planking, athen I finished rough Fairing the hull. next it will need to be sanded with 600 grit, to get it ready for epoxy . I am very pleased with this build as it has been a challenge. Here are the results
