  1. That's an updated version (although I note no updated detail) when I bought mine you could only get it in red . The next update will be the tri colour version (which will be my next version, but with no extra cost as I will just respray my one)
  2. So the throttle bodys finished and added next problem the awful fit of the exhaust (yes on a kit this expensive there are bad fitting parts)
  3. Couldn't resist trying a bit of varnish, I must as after 2 or three coats I think it might look alright.
  4. Thanks for the info (I wasnt sure who it was it was i thought a toss up between Ferrari or alfa glad to have the correct info) This in silver must have been pretty impressive. Wish I had those sort of skills.
  5. The throttle bodies come like this just an oval piece of dished plastic, I know it cant be seen in any way on the finished model but I thought I could do much better. I got a piece of self adhesive aluminium tape and brass leafed it then cut it to shape to make the butterfly. I cut a piece of sprue to the right length then cut that in half lengthwise. Drilled 2 holes in it and added screws, fairly convincing butterfly. The rest of the pictures of this is all that comes with the kit, again I didn't think there was enough detail so my next installment will be adding the extra detail to it.
  6. Lots of wiring added (I used a stripped out ethernet cable to get those wires) finding the right thickness and right colours for the wires was the hardest part of this build.
  7. Hi all well I've started with the first skin (needs a bit of filler) I think by the time it's got the wood on it, it should look ok.
  8. I think it was the designer of alfa romeo who called the Bentley the fastest lorry in the world
  9. Yes I'm building the boat tail version (of which there were loads)
  10. Hi all started on the body (that rear end wont be pointed it is cut square on the car) It also flares out over the suspension lots of work on this part just wondering whether I will have to stain the wood red or if the mahogany when varnished will be red enough, I think on the actual car it is stained.
  11. Superb work on these. Yes I really love these Tamiya 1/6 bike kits they are amazing.
  12. Ok so even though the paint on the kit was perfect this is the new colour.
  13. Hi all I love these Tamiya 1/6 bike kits but I realised that a lot of that wonderful detail is lost when you put it all together ( I would have loved to do this with the Yamaha 1100 midnight special which I built in my youth as a bike I dreamt of owning but as it was no longer in production i couldn't afford the stupid prices it was going for on ebay) So money being tight at the time i went for the Honda. Of course what seemed like a simple idea at the time quickly turned into a nightmare, a kit intended to be displayed complete opened up a whole bag of worms when you decide to put it in a garage totally dismantled ready for restoration.
  14. Heres another update, this engine is huge, and heavy I needed to ware back support whilst working on it. Another size comparison the brake equalizer is a small part of the bike but when put on a 1/24 American lorry engine it makes the engine look tiny. Incidentally all those banjo connectors had to be made as the things supplied in the kit are awful.
  15. Reworked some of the engine. When I first got this back I had visions of turning it into Chitty but then thought I would check out the different versions this engine was used in and decided on the boat tail version. What's funny is the first guess a lot of people made on what I was doing with it was Chitty (I thought turning it into Chitty was quite original and no one would think of that) I quite liked the idea so my question is (I dont know how to do a poll) which would you like to see most the red boat tail Bentley or Chitty.
  16. In the years since I built this kit I like to think I've got better at weathering engines realistically so this ones coming out to have a do over.
  17. Another installment Another part not included the insulation part for the starter motor and wire.
  18. Pastels are great at turning plastic into wood, I think I posted a tutorial on my Soleil build as I had so many people asking how I did it.
  19. Hi all I got this back from the person I sold it to, can you guess which version (it's extremely rare and worth £132,000) and as a hint there is a lot of wood involved.
  20. Very. The original was also motorised (moulding for that and the gears are still in the new one) (when I built the motorised one in my youth it only worked for about 10 feet then stripped the gears) I think that's why it's not motorised now. Accuracy is pretty poor as is the detail but then again it's the only 1/12 version out there.
  21. I corrected loads of faults on this kit and added loads of extra detail (I also respoked the wheels)
  22. Hi all I did this ages ago and sold it to my ex boss, he no longer wants it so I have it back (complete with dust and cobwebs) so I'm going to strip it and do something different with it
