tsurfing Posted April 9, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted April 9, 2015 No...that was the other part -the pudding spar. The outline is of the attachment to the straps that criss-cross the boat. Its the low resolution that make this hard to see. I think the white part on the end is a 2 purchase block. How was the rest of it is made is the question. cwboland Posted April 9, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 9, 2015 TS, Hard to say, but to my (poor) eyes, it looks to be a single block tied to the davit, with the line running to the double block and back to the single, before running back outboard and finally being tied off to the davit, with lots of running line left to belay out and loosen the strap. tsurfing 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

realworkingsailor Posted April 9, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 9, 2015 Looks to me like bowsing tackle. Used to keep the lifeboat alongside the ship when embarking.
