Zack Soderquist Posted June 17, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 17, 2018 Hello my name is Zack and I have started learning to build model ships. My primary interest lies in Age of Sails ships. I have completed a 1/196 USS Constitution by Revel. It was a fun build but I am really interested in building wood model ships. I have started my first wood kit, the 18th Century Longboat by Model Expo. I got the combo which included tools, paint etc. I guess I assumed it being a combo, it would be a good first model. After receiving the kit and doing some research, I realized most consider it to be an intermediate to advanced level due to it small size. Should be interesting if nothing else. I am from Lincoln, NE and as we are about as far from water as can be there is not much interest or knowledge locally regarding ship models. spars Posted June 18, 2018 Share #6 Posted June 18, 2018 Welcome to a site which satisfies. Go after the kit. ModelExpo provides parts free if you muck them up so the parts list is important. Doing an overnight layover so I can see the USS Constitution in person. I have seen the Cutty Sark in England in person. WOW, that is a BIG boat.
