Welcome to MSW.   MSW has a wealth of resources here, including build logs.  Goto the Kit area and there's a topic https://modelshipworld.com/topic/17023-quick-find-indexes-to-build-logs-for-kits/  that has a list of all the builds.   It will help you.   Also, give some thought to opening a log as it'll be the best way to get help when you need it and also make some friends here.

I, too, am starting a New Bedford whaleboat, my second try. First was more than a disaster. I found some really good video footage on youtube about whaling and whaleboats, however I am not computer literate so I have no idea how to attach them. You can try New Bedford whaling as a start.

You might want to check out The White Whale, the New Bedford Whaling Museum for some great source books & materials.

Here is a book that has a lot of Whaleboat information ~ I purchased a copy and love it!

Hope this helps ~ Rich

Welcome Rich,

Another great book that I used to construct small boats for a whaling ship is

To Build a Whaleboat: Historical Notes and a Modelmaker's Guide Hardcover by Erik Ronnberg.  I think this is available on Amazon for less than $15.00,

This is an excellent book by an excellent modelmaker.

Good Luck!
