Main boom rigging

I'm building Model Shipways Bluenose II kit. I do not find how the main boom is held down at the end supported on the main mast. seems to me there must be something to stretch the attached sail down. The first two masted schooner that I have built. Thanks for help

I believe the weight of the boom pretty much keeps the sail taught at that point.

 

Someone with more knowledge than me might be able to add to this or correct me..

I thought this might be the case on the prototype ship but the model boom is pretty light compared to the sail.

Have a look at the cutters in https://modelshipworld.com/gallery/category/4-gallery-of-contemporary-models-from-museums-and-private-collections/ page 2 . You'll notice that the boom at the mast is sitting there purely due to weight. If you've a problem with the kit not sitting down properly then maybe a touch of glue where the yoke sits on the mast will solve your problem.

Somewhere, there usedto be a fairly large archive of pictures of the original bluenose. Just can't find it anymore......

You will also find that the hoops that hold the sail to the mast will add traction down the length of the mast and also provide points to add a touch of white glue..
