Is it the Model Shipways kit? If so, I'd be surprised that a flag wasn't included. I'm sure that they sell some on their website.

I just did a quick Google using "model flags" and got tons of sites.  But do check Model Shipways first.

FYI I used flag 5005 from their site for my Fair American

 

"5005 First flag of USA 1777 - 1795, stars and stripes after design by Betsy Ross. Both flags
No. 5005 and 5006 were used."

Did you use 40 mm or 64 mm?
