Todd Hart Posted June 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 6, 2020 I just finished repairing some damage to my Swift that I built back in the 80's. One of the Smokestacks is broken and missing. I've looked online for a replacement, but I haven't found one. Does anybody know where I can buy a replacement?. Also, while perusing this forum, I have seen pictures of different versions of the Swift and on some of the models, the anchors are in different positions on the front of the boat. I was thinking about not gluing them back down and leaving them loose. Is this a good idea or should I glue them? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
allanyed Posted June 6, 2020 Share #2 Posted June 6, 2020 Todd, Have you considered making your own "Charlie Noble" . Guess the name is not appropriate here as the term came into being having been named for Captain Charles Noble about 1850 and Swift is circa 1805. It can be as simple as using a dowel if it is round and with hand saw, scalpel and sand paper you can do a credible job including making an offset if appropriate. Brass tubing can also be used if you want to tackle soldering. As for the anchors, your choice as long as an arm and fluke are hooked onto the rail and rigged to stay in place. They would not be just left loose. On some small vessels they may have actually been secured on deck when underway. Some folks like leaving one just hanging down. I am sure some member will have better information on the anchors. RussR Posted June 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted June 6, 2020 Todd, If you have some scrape 2mm dowl you could bend it cut it off. You could go so far as taking a deadeye and sand half off and drill a 2mm hole in the center to put the dowl in and paint it. Or don't worry with the bend in the dowl. Or the other opition is leave them off intirely. Unless someone else has a better solution.
