It seems effectively the Pola, probably you are right.

The plane on the foredeck was used not for fight but for exploration of the operating zone of the ship (it was a pre-radar period).

It was launched with a catapult and after its duty it was recovered and placed again on the catapult with a crane.

So, sorry about the wait, it was a long work day. The advantage is with the non-europeans for the next 8 hours..

Here is the next mystery ship.

Now why did I think it might be difficult?

Killkis, ex Mississipi, US pre dreadnought battleship, bought by Greece in 1914, sunk by German dive bombers In 1941.

Technically I'll have to grant it to realworkingsailor, he got the name right of the vessel as depicted. St. George.got the full story right.

Love the originals - and it certainly makes things more challenging which, I guess, could be considered "Fun"

Sure do need to dig a lot deeper!  Who would have ever thunk there were that many red freighters on the St. Lawrence and Great lakes?????

You guys never let me have it easy. So, I guess it's no laker then, or is it?

Ok, I will try harder.

Hi Anja,

Google 'laker', and you'll see that they have all something in common: kind of boxy appearance.

Made to fit in the lcks of the canals between the lakes. (compare it to the Dutch 'motorspits' that is made to the specification of the locks in the Willemsvaart).

As Andy is living in the lake area, many (if not all) of his mystery-ones are from the great lakes.

Most of the Canadian but some of the from that other country.

Jan

PS it's unfortunate that MSW1 disappeared, I've seen this Andy pic before.....
