It began in 1848 and ultimately merged with the Revenue Cutter Service to form the United States Coast Guard in 1915. Nice model drawing! Are you going to do a Build Log of her? For example, the couple score of copper air chambers for flotation. By the way, that's not a steering wheel on the aft bulkhead- it operates the reversing mechanism, which normally would just be a lever if you were standing next to the engine. The single crank is for starting the engine, while the T-handle crank is the primary steering tool. The galvanized air tank below the aft bulkhead gets compressed gas directly from the engine cylinder, and is used to operate the whistle seen on that aft bulkhead. The main fuel tank is the copper object below the forward bulkhead. Gunmetal plates riveted through and through the keel members at both ends are used for hauling the boat up the ways.
